Ingenium Aerospace is located in Rockford, Illinois, an hour west of Chicago. The Rockford region provides a great quality of life and is an attractive regional center for people to live, work, and play. Overall Responsibilities

The Engineering Drawing Checker role is a key part of the company’s leadership team and requires significant multi-tasking and exceptional communication skills across all aspects of the business. The Engineering Drawing Checker position is responsible for ensuring that all technical drawings meet stringent quality standards and compliance requirements before they move into the production phase. The qualified candidate will need to meticulously review blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to reduce the risk of costly errors and enhance the overall integrity of engineering projects. The ideal candidate should have the knowledge of mechanical and electrical aerospace design practices.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Examine and verify engineering drawings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards and project specifications.
  • Identify and correct errors, omissions, or discrepancies in drawings.
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to resolve drawing issues.
  • Maintain updated records of drawing revisions and approvals.
  • Utilize specialized software to review and edit drawings.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of quality control procedures for drawings.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations for improving drawing accuracy and clarity.
  • Assist in the training of engineers or new associates on drawing standards.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure ongoing compliance with quality standards.
  • All other duties as assigned by manager

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems), drafting, or a related field.
  • 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in CAD software and other design tools
  • Expert in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
  • Ability to perform tolerance studies and fits including thermal considerations
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Experience with quality control procedures
  • Expert in reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Ability to use design and drafting software proficiently
  • Ability to identify and correct drawing errors effectively
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • U.S. Citizen, no dual citizenship allowed

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in in aerospace / defense
  • Knowledge of aerospace and FAA design requirements
  • Knowledge of aerospace material and manufacturing processes
  • Expert in aerospace drafting standards and configuration control
  • Knowledge of certification testing per DO-160 or MIL-STD-810
  • Knowledge of Solidworks Engineering Product and Teamcenter Data Management software
