ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY


SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Renaissance Scholars Coordinator and Renaissance Scholars team the RS Student Engagement Ambassador will be responsible for supporting community engagement programming, outreach, special projects, and provide general office operational support

SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):


The Student Engagement Ambassador’s primary responsibilities include assisting within the following four main components: 1. Assisting to lead Community Building Activities: SEAs will work collaboratively with the RS staff to develop and facilitate small- and large- scale community building activities that align with program goals to promote a sense of belonging among the Renaissance Scholars and Fostering Success Services Community throughout the academic year SEAs will:
  • Create flyers and advertise events via social media and/or by posting flyers
  • Collaborate with other student leaders and departments for program logistics, implementation, and facilitation of activities
  • Assist in assessing programming and other student engagement efforts as needed
  • Meet with RS team for planning and approval of programs

2. Assisting with RS Outreach efforts: SEAs will assist the Student Support and Equity Program department efforts in outreach and recruitment events and activities by positively representing the CPP/Foster Youth Community and serving in student panels to promote RS services SEAs will:
  • Participate in outreach events by serving in student panel presentations
  • Assist with tabling to promote Renaissance Scholars and Fostering Success Services

3. Supporting RS/SSEP special projects: SEAs will assist the RS staff in the planning and preparation of various special projects as needed throughout the year for RS and for the SSEP department
SEAs will:
  • Assist in cataloging, managing, sharing and taking photos of All RS and FSS Events
  • Assist in Celebration of Excellence, Retreats and Monthly Meetings
  • Assist in Social Media: Work with RS staff to promote events and resources through different social media platforms (Instagram, Newsletter, and website, etc.)
  • Support other RS or SSEP special projects as needed

4. Providing General Office Operational Support: SEAs will represent RS and offer excellent customer service, provide office coverage, make appropriate referrals as needed, and assist in general office duties across various unit areas withing the SSEP department as needed SEAs will:
  • Support phone call campaigns, and in-person/virtual inquiries regarding RS & FSS
  • Keep lead(s) up to date regarding progress of tasks and referrals made
  • Maintain and take inventory of office, outreach, events, and program supplies
  • Assist in creating marketing materials/documents and in reviewing data
  • Assist with maintaining the RS & FSS space to cultivate a clean and welcoming environment
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

SEAs will participate in a wide range of professional development training workshops, weekly team meetings, meetings with Leads and assist with all RS & FSS unit areas as needed.Evening and weekend hours may be available based on programming needs.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Be an enrolled undergraduate CPP full-time student in good academic standing with a minimum Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Be able to work in person 15-20 hours per week, with a minimum of 2 hours per shift.
  • Reliable and dependable – maintain confidentiality regarding student information
  • Ability to be adaptable, take initiative, work independently, and collaboratively
  • Ability to work with students, staff, administrators, family members, and faculty from diverse backgrounds and identities with a strong interest in working with foster youth, low-income, first-generation, and historically underrepresented college students
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions, and perform tasks appropriate for the position
  • Strong work ethic, listening skills, organizational skills, responsibility, and accountability
  • Knowledge of CPP campus resources
  • Good interpersonal skills- approachability, openness, respectful and professional communication
  • Ability to provide practical support, advocacy, use problem solving techniques and make proper referrals as needed
  • Familiarity with Zoom and Microsoft Office- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.
  • Be flexible to work occasional evenings or weekends
