Summary/Objective

The role of the INVENTORY CONTROL MANAGER is responsible for developing processes and procedures to ensure accuracy of cycle counts and physical inventories. They are also responsible for analyzing inventory reports to identify discrepancies and work with teams to properly adjust inventory when needed and fine-tune processes accordingly. Works closely with Plant Leadership and Cost Accounting to ensure inventory is being properly maintained and adjustments are made in a timely and accurate manager.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee the tracking and management of inventory throughout the plant locations to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Implement procedures to maintain inventory levels in line with operational needs, ensuring the correct raw materials are available for production.
  • Become very familiar with the production process and how raw materials move throughout the plant on a daily basis.
  • Work with Plant Leadership to ensure cycle counts are performed on a regular basis and reconcile discrepancies between physical inventories. Ensure higher volume/higher value items are prioritized while ensuring other raw materials are counted on a regular basis.
  • Work closely with Plant Leadership to ensure plant is using correct materials. If materials need to be substituted, ensure that all substitutions are being reported in an accurate and timely manner by Plant Leadership.
  • Ensure Plant Leadership is ensuring that raw materials are properly labeled, stored and moving efficiently throughout the plant.
  • Monitor inventory performance using key metrics such as stock levels, inventory turnover, and order fulfillment. Identify slow moving and obsolete materials, identify ways we can move those materials to recoup costs, and identify ways to ensure raw materials that are no longer used due to cancelations, etc. are properly categorized in a timely and efficient manner. Work closely with Product Development when needed to help identify these materials when needed.
  • Generate and present regular reports on inventory performance, stock discrepancies, and areas for improvement for each plant location on at least a monthly basis.
  • Set up and monitor operational goals and KPIs for each plant location.
  • Hold Plant Leadership accountable to ensure inventory is accurate.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and train Plant Leadership in and effort to improve inventory management and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct and implement continuous improvement initiatives across all plant locations.
  • Evaluate and streamline inventory control processes to improve productivity, reporting capabilities, and reduce costs.
  • Implement process to monitor raw materials received from vendors to ensure that vendors are sending proper materials, in proper quantities and to hold vendors accountable. Work with vendors and Plant Leadership to resolve any discrepancies in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Develop process for receiving operators across all plants to ensure materials are being properly received and accounted for.
  • Work closely with Cost Accounting team and Plant Leadership to ensure each plant location is prepped properly for physical inventory. Assist as needed to ensure any discrepancies are properly documented and that Plant Leadership is accountable for determining the root cause accordingly.
  • Monitor negative inventory, miscounts during physical inventory, etc. and hold Plant Leadership accountable.
  • Work closely with Logistics to better understand how production schedules are created to ensure production is properly tracked and documented in OHM, including any substitutions are properly accounted for.
  • Other responsibilities as needed and as directed by management.

Competencies

  • 3-5 Years Experience in Inventory Control, Warehouse Operations, or a Related Field.
  • Strong Organizational Skills and Attention to Detail.
  • Proficiency in Inventory Management.
  • Excellent Excel and MS Office Suite Experience.
  • Ability to Work Effectively in a Fast-Paced Environment and Meet Deadlines.
  • Excellent Communication and Problem-Solving Skills.

Supervisory Responsibility

Monitor Plant Leadership in the inventory control process. Work closely with Operations Leadership when disciplinary actions are needed to ensure consistent message and documented accordingly. Disciplinary documentation will be uploaded to the employee(s) records in Paycom accordingly.

Work Environment

Office environment; however, will work on the plant floor where there is little to no temperature control.

Physical Demands: Be able to lift 50 lbs.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Full Time 40/hr.

Travel: Occasional travel required to other facilities across the U.S to support projects and monitor cycle counts and physical inventories.

Required Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ Experience in Inventory Management.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Proficient in Data Analysis & Reporting.
  • Attention to Detail required.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) Preferred.
  • Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills.
  • Customer-oriented and cool-tempered.
  • Experience with Lean and Six Sigma Methodologies for Process Improvement Preferred.
