Job Title: Behaviour Health Counselor - LAC

Reports To: Clinical Director - LPC

FLSA Designation: Full-time, Non-exempt

Hours/Location: On Site Monday-Friday - Days

The Behavioral Health Counselor (LAC) provides professional counseling services to individuals struggling with substance use disorders and mental health conditions. This position involves conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and providing therapeutic interventions while working within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Essential Functions

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments of clients
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling services
  • Document all clinical services in accordance with agency standards
  • Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
  • Facilitate therapeutic groups and psychoeducational sessions
  • Conduct crisis intervention when necessary
  • Maintain appropriate clinical boundaries with clients
  • Other related duties as assigned.


Case Management

  • Coordinate care with other healthcare providers and support services
  • Participate in treatment team meetings and case conferences
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Develop discharge and continuing care plans
  • Monitor client progress and treatment outcomes
  • Provide referrals to community resources as needed
  • Other related duties as assigned.


Professional Responsibilities

  • Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
  • Participate in clinical supervision as required
  • Attend required staff meetings and training sessions
  • Maintain professional licensure and continuing education requirements
  • Follow all agency policies and procedures
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members


Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field
  • Current Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) credential in state of ARIZONA
  • Knowledge of substance use disorders and mental health conditions
  • Understanding of evidence-based treatment modalities
  • Experience with clinical documentation and electronic health records
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills


Education and Experience:

  • Independent Arizona Behavioral Health License (LISAC preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of 12-step recovery (personal recovery experience preferred)
  • Master’s degree in behavioral health
  • Authorized Clinical Supervisor
  • EMDR Trained or Certified (preferred)
  • Trauma work
  • Sand Play


Knowledge, Abilities, and Attitudes Required:

  • Proficiency in computer software, especially EMR (KIPU) MS Office, Teams, Outlook
  • Experience in counseling and case management with substance abuse clients.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze treatment plans and psychiatric reports.
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain ethical standards and confidentiality.
  • Commitment to respecting cultural differences and protecting client rights.
  • Ability to recognize symptoms of mental disorders and substance abuse.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and deescelate
