About The Position

As our Human Resources (HR) Generalist, you will run the daily functions of the Human Resources Department including, but not limited to, benefits, leave, performance and enforcing company policies and procedures. You will provide support efforts for our multi-state company and at times asked to travel to our locations for business purposes. This is a full-time position out of our corporate office in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Employee Relations

  • Respond to employee and management requests in a positive and ready to help manner.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; suggest necessary changes to management.
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resources federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings.
  • Ensures compliance with FMLA regulations and processes employee leave requests, including collaborating with relevant parties to coordinate FMLA leave with applicable Short-Term and Long-Term Disability benefits.
  • Handle email, phone and in-person inquiries in a proactive, enthusiastic matter connecting individual with the right information at the right time.
  • Complete unemployment claims/hearings; child support withholding; wage levy or garnishments.
  • Responds to reference checks and verifications of employment.
  • Actively involved in retention efforts within Fairchild.
  • May be required to coordinate and conduct exit interviews.
  • Provide guidance to managers on company policies and procedures such as disciplinary action.

Benefits

  • Assist with benefits administration.
  • Reconcile benefits statements.
  • Conducts audits of payroll, benefits and other HR program and recommend corrective action.
  • Administers health plans, including enrollment, changes, and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
  • Administrate new hire open enrollment and annual open enrollment.
  • Lead our Corporate Health and Wellness Program.
  • Complete various recordkeeping, premium tracking, report generation and reconciliation tasks.

HR Support

  • Protects company’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Completes special projects by clarifying project objective; setting timetables and schedules; conducting research; developing and organizing information; fulfilling transactions.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Process employee status changes and communicate updates to manager and HR department as appropriate.
  • Maintain personnel files in accordance with recordkeeping requirements.
  • Willingness to take on various administrative, communicative, and prioritizing responsibilities for all areas of HR as needed.

Recruiting and On-Boarding

  • Supports recruiter and backs them up whenever needed.
  • Ensure the recruiter is trained on the recruitment and on-boarding process.
  • Be the liaison with career counselors at high school and technical colleges to support our intern and apprenticeship efforts.
  • Coordinate and attend career fairs, campus recruiting events, and any other recruiting efforts.

Required Skills And Abilities

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Working understanding of human resource principles, practices and procedures.
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with confidential information, strong work ethic, reliability, teamwork and flexibility.
  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment.
  • Travel to Fairchild Equipment locations as requested by HR Manager; less than 25% annually.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration Human Resources Management.
  • 4+ years of experience in Human Resources and/or related experience is required.

    • Lifting- raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. 
    • Fingering- Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole and or arm as in handling.
    • Grasping- applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm. 
    • Talking- Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. 
    • Hearing- Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication. 
    • Climbing- ascending or descending.
  • Occasional Physical Activity of the position:
    • Balancing- maintaining body equilibrium. 
    • Fingering- perceiving attributes of objects by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips. 
  • The visual acuity requirements: 
    • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes. 
  • The conditions the worker will be submitted to in this position: 
    • The worker is subject to environmental conditions with activities that normally would occur indoors.
    • The worker is occasionally required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.
