Juniper Preserve is announcing exceptional career opportunity of Director of Finance. The Director of Finance plans, directs and coordinates the financial, accounting, and administrative activities of Juniper Preserve. Responsibilities for the position include the financial management of the resort, development, and appropriate HOA allocations and or related real estate entities. The position requires a strong knowledge of cash and accrual basis accounting, financial reporting, forecasting & budgeting, private clubs and resort hospitality, real estate, development accounting and proficiency in computer software environments.

Salary: $165,000-$175,000 BOE

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Implements and adheres to company policies and procedures for the Accounting function, including compliance of all company accounting standards.
  • Oversees accounting and administrative controls so as to safeguard the assets of the company by reducing theft as well as internal fraud.
  • Prepares and monitors annual budget, monitoring revenue goals as well as generating various (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual) business volume forecasts.
  • Reporting on the consolidated entities forecasts down to an EBITDA line.
  • Monitors and coordinates property plans of overall future objectives, including projection of revenue, cost, net income, cash position, cash management, and capital requirements.
  • Prepares & submits monthly financial statements & supporting schedules that identify actual, budget, variance and over/under based on the plan.
  • Performs or monitors daily revenue audits for revenue generating departments (i.e. Golf, Food & Beverage, Lodging etc.).
  • Analyzes various accounting reports such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, various general ledger and monthly financial statements.
  • Monitors and manages property cash flow and decides the appropriate timing of issuing payment to vendors. Alerts General Manager & Regional Controller when cash flow problems exist.
  • Prepares, coordinates and reviews the closing of year-end books to include all Juniper Preserve entities.
  • Establishes accounting protocols and work flows for the property based on property needs, ensuring compliance with management company’s accounting standards.
  • Monitors contracts with facility’s vendors.
  • Ensures collection and payment of applicable local, state, and federal taxes. Prepares or reviews preparation of monthly tax reports.
  • Responsible for training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs.
  • Maintain relationships with other financial organizations and agencies, to include banks, insurance companies, government agencies, etc.
  • Conducts regular staff meetings with the finance team.
  • Ensure proper and ethical procurement of products and vendors who provide not only the best pricing options, but also meet the service standards and products in line with the business requirements. In addition, the benefit of any acquired rebates, incentives, discounts, etc. are intended purely for the benefit of the company, not the personal gain of the manager. At no time is a quid quo pro agreement to be made, nor any promise of future services based on current discounting without prior approval of the General Manager.
  • Maintains a professional standard at Juniper Preserve including, but not limited to, appearance, interaction with members, associates, guests of the resort, verbal discussions and written correspondence. Does not discuss work related issues with members and resort guests.

  • Maintains positive attitude and the flexibility to take on new and different tasks as assigned by the General Manager.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) with an emphasis in accounting or related field. MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in hospitality accounting and 2 years in real estate and or development accounting.
  • Previous experience with private club

Required

  • This position requires an individual who is highly organized with demonstrated attention to detail in accounting and who possesses knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization. Requires a strong working knowledge of the resort and resort hospitality industry, real estate and development.
  • Knowledge of Google & Microsoft Office applications with expert level spreadsheet capabilities. Knowledge of property management systems.
