Position Summary

The Senior Global Product Manager translates top line business strategy into actionable product strategy to meet corporate sales, margin, and financial goals for a specific portfolio of products sold across multiple global markets. They manage the execution of all processes in the product lifecycle from concept to end-of-life, including market research, competitor analysis, planning, positioning, requirements, roadmap development, and product launch. They develop, implement, and oversee product management activities to provide optimum sales and profit results to assigned product lines. They also determine short-and long-term strategies and tactics for the marketing, future development, pricing, and positioning of products. The Sr Global Product Manager evaluates the effectiveness of programs and concepts and implements strategies to optimize, and they mentor and assist with the activities of the product managers. The Sr Global Product Manager is a subject matter expert with deep field knowledge of products, market, and product management best practices.

Measures of success:

  • Maintain and deliver portfolio and product roadmap updates to stakeholders on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Facilitate timely, high quality product portfolio decisions in a collaborative and cross functional environment.
  • Identify, gain buy-in for, and execute cross-functional product line initiatives to meet or exceed revenue, profit, free cash flow, and wallet share targets.
  • Meet pre-determined deadlines to support product portfolio reviews and new product development teams.
  • Effective collaboration with international teams.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee activities of Product Managers and Product Management Specialists, providing advice and support on product management matters.
  • Develop and update 5-year product roadmaps and strategic plans, coordinating budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
  • Initiate and participate in the development and introduction of new products or major improvements to existing products.
  • Implement market strategies to successfully launch new products and improve market share of current product lines.
  • Monitor sales performance and participate in monthly and annual unit, revenue, and profit forecasts for product lines.
  • Maintain close relationships with reps, customers, and the OEM sales group to determine and communicate market needs and trends.
  • Develop a deep understanding of global market size, trends, needs, pricing, and opportunities for assigned products, and prepare strategic recommendations.
  • Research, monitor, and evaluate competitive information, maintaining competitor tracking systems.
  • Ensure compliance with regional and international codes and standards.
  • Create and maintain product strategy documents, detailing business cases, high-level use cases, product requirements, revenue, and return on investment (ROI). Secure internal approval for investments.
  • Write Product Requirements and Market Requirements documents.
  • Coordinate and participate in voice of customer (VOC) interviews, beta tests, and field trials.
  • Support evaluation of external vendors and identify product partnerships.
  • Provide product and application expertise to enhance sales, advertising, and public relations.
  • Establish and support top-level training for customers, manufacturer’s representatives, and internal teams covering new products and modifications.
  • Participate in international and regional exhibitions as required.
  • Evaluate warranty data, participate in high-level field troubleshooting, and coordinate action plans for continuous product quality improvements.
  • Participate in long-range division planning and goal setting.
  • Manage personal budget, including travel, education, and organizational memberships.
  • Perform other related duties as required or directed.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years of product management experience working with product portfolios and their profitability within the market, preferably in the HVAC or plumbing industry
  • Experience collaborating with global teams across multiple continents, especially in North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific (APAC).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Self-directed, good communication skills
  • Travel both domestically and internationally as needed up to 20% of the time to trade shows, sales reps, conferences, and product related job site visits, etc.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Experience with Epicor ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), PowerBI, PDTrak and JIRA

Work Environment:

This position works primarily in an office environment using computers and technology. Verbal and auditory capability are required. Occasional exposure in production plant where large equipment and noise are prevalent. Safety gear is required in these areas.

This position may work from home up to 2X/week if performance is in good standing.

Management:

This position has no direct reports.
