General Dynamics Land Systems is a global leader in the design, development, production, support and sustainment of tracked and wheeled military equipment, specifically the Abrams Main Battle Tank and the Stryker Family of Wheeled Combat Vehicles.

Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To

  • Develops and designs gauge requirements for checking of parts based on accuracy, cost, and areas of use.
    • Accuracy is dictated by print and project requirements
    • Areas of use would be location of parts during testing (i.e. fixture in machine, in captive state outside machine fixture, or free state)
    • Areas of use can also be environmental - in locations of extreme heat, wet locations, etc.
  • Monitors and Initiates In-house Calibration of equipment by outside sources.
  • Reviews, determines impact on product, and dispositions gauges returned that do not meet calibration requirements.
  • Locates stored gages, replacement gages, or orders new gages to maintain quality requirements.
  • Designs and updates calibration procedures, inspection process work instructions, and calibration acceptance criteria for specialized gauges / fixtures.
  • Reviews Process Operation Sheets for completeness and Gage assignments that match inspection operation listings.
  • Works closely with Tool Engineering to determine effective operator in-process measurements
  • Works closely with Tool Engineering to determine necessary additional inspection requirements based on process / tooling used
  • Develops and maintains inspection operation check sheets for checking lot quantities of parts in a productive sequential format based on design requirements
  • Maintains scheduled process control samples submissions and report documents.
  • Organizes and programs CMM software (PCDMIS) to verify production parts.
  • Dispositions potential discrepant material to determine the next steps in its process flow.
  • Perform tasks in other areas of Quality Assurance as may be assigned.
Position Requirements.

  • Must be a US Person.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • College Degree in Engineering or Business preferred
  • Interface with Production Team Leaders, Production Control, Operations Engineering, Tool Makers, CNC operators, general machinists, painters, assemblers, welders, quality inspectors and material handlers within a unionized workforce.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, presentation, and computer skills.

Work Environment/Demands

This job is performed in an office and heavy manufacturing environment.

This role routinely requires standing, walking, sitting, bending, personal interactions for extended periods, and uses standard office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and phones.

Exposure to manufacturing environments containing noise, odors, temperature changes, and moving equipment.
