The Credits and Refunds Supervisor position supports the Business Tax Services (BTS) Division by supervision of a unit of Specialists on a regular and consistent basis engaged in providing business tax services related to various business tax types. The Credits and Refunds Supervisor will perform supervisory functions including evaluating performance, making recommendations on disciplinary actions, providing for employee development, and approving time off. The Credits and Refunds Supervisor will also effectively and professionally represent the Oklahoma Tax Commission’s position during the conduct of formal or informal hearings when taxpayers contest the results of action taken by the division.
The Business Tax Services Division provides a diverse set of services to our taxpayers, with a focus on business tax review and registrations related to such tax types as sales, cigarette, tobacco, alcohol and motor fuel taxes. The division also reviews and processes tax credits and refunds related to various business tax types.

Preference may be given to candidates who have completed a CPA certification or have a background in business taxes.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Exhibit manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate a computer, keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Ability to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels, with or without aids. Ability to communicate clearly. Physical ability to lift up to 15 pounds, to bend, stoop, climb stairs, walk and reach. Duties are normally performed in an office environment with a moderate noise level.
Special Requirements
Travel is sometimes required for this position. Applicants must have reliable transportation and be willing and able to perform all job-related travel. Possession and maintenance of a valid Oklahoma State Driver’s License is also required.
Oklahoma Tax Commission’s normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm. This schedule may require minor flexibility based on the needs of the agency.
Telework may be required based on the needs of the agency, division, and section. If applicable, applicant must be willing and able to work BOTH on-site and telework at an off-site location, generally in the applicant’s home. Applicant must have a secure internet connection and a dedicated telephone (landline) or smart phone device during scheduled working hours.

- Lead and manage the Credits and Refunds section within the BTS Division, ensuring effective operations and alignment with organizational objectives. Provide direction and mentorship to team members, fostering a positive work environment.
- Administer and ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, policies, and financial controls, while promoting best practices across all functions.
- Deliver exceptional internal and external customer service by responding proactively to needs, addressing issues promptly, and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by regularly evaluating existing processes, identifying areas for enhancement, and implementing innovative solutions to optimize workflows, reduce costs, and improve productivity.
- Conduct regular assessments of team productivity, streamline operational processes, and implement best practices to reduce processing times, ensuring maximum efficiency and quality in service delivery.
- Create and update comprehensive procedures, training materials, and resources to support team growth and ensure adherence to standards.
- Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance team culture that encourages open communication, teamwork, and professional growth.
- Assign tasks, manage workload distribution, and provide guidance to team members to ensure operational goals and deadlines are consistently met.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and offer professional development opportunities to ensure ongoing skill enhancement and knowledge growth. Monitor key metrics and performance indicators, analyzing trends to identify areas for improvement and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and briefings, providing insights and recommendations based on data analysis. Present findings to leadership and stakeholders as needed.
- Conduct audits and assessments, making recommendations for improvements in policies, processes, or procedures to enhance operational effectiveness and compliance.

Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or public administration; or related field; PLUS three years of professional experience in auditing, accounting, or similar field
- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of paraprofessional experience in auditing, accounting, or similar field for each year of the required education
