Duties

  • You will plan, schedule, manage, and execute internal audits necessary to achieve and maintain conformance to Navy requirements.
  • You will develop, modify, and maintain control over the implementation of the safety management system, including the manual and supporting documentation control of inspections, audits, and records.
  • You will provide training to all levels of management, staff, and internal auditors, including military in conformance with Navy standards.
  • You will coordinate all safety management activity, including the identification, tracking, and implementation of objectives.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting in the maintaining of safety and occupational health principles applicable to the performance of a full range safety and occupational program involving aviation maintenance, shipboard applications and industrial shop operations; 2) Incorporating psychological and physiological factors to conduct a wide variety of activities promoting safe working practices and operating procedures; 3) Monitoring industrial work processes and procedures to control hazards involving stationary machinery, toxic chemicals, compressed and flammable gases, and combustible liquids to pinpoint causal factors resulting in dangerous working conditions; 4) Conducting risk analysis of aircraft maintenance work processes and support equipment, industrial work processes, shop machinery design and material handling processes; 5) Performing calculations of Total Case Incident Rates (TCIR) and Days Away Restricted Transfer (DART) rates; 6) Utilizing software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint to enhance oral and written communications.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting in the maintaining of safety and occupational health principles applicable to the performance of a full range safety and occupational program involving aviation maintenance, shipboard applications and industrial shop operations; 2) Incorporating psychological and physiological factors to conduct a wide variety of activities promoting safe working practices and operating procedures; 3) Conducting risk analysis of aircraft maintenance work processes and support equipment, industrial work processes, shop machinery design and material handling processes; 4) Utilizing software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint to enhance oral and written communications.

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

OR

3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree

OR

LL.M., if related

Additional information

This position requires rotating shift work.

You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
