Jensen Hughes is seeking a highly analytical and self-driven Financial Data Analyst to join our team in the Architecture & Engineering (A&E) industry. This role will focus on analyzing complex data sets to drive operational efficiency, support financial decision-making, and contribute to strategic initiatives across projects, design teams, and business units. The ideal candidate brings strong business acumen, deep financial knowledge, and experience using data to optimize performance in professional services, project-based environments, or technical industries.

The ideal candidate brings strong business acumen, deep financial knowledge, and experience using data to optimize performance in professional services, project-based environments, or technical industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth financial and operational analysis to support business planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities across architectural and engineering projects.
- Leverage data to identify opportunities for margin improvement, resource allocation efficiency, and project delivery optimization.
- Translate large volumes of data from financial systems, project management platforms, and operational sources into actionable insights.
- Build financial models and frameworks to support strategic initiatives such as portfolio analysis, fee structure optimization, and utilization forecasting.
- Develop executive-level presentations that synthesize key findings and support firm-wide decision-making.
- Collaborate with project managers, design leaders, and operations teams to ensure data-driven approaches to performance transformation.
- Support project costing and profitability assessments by connecting financial metrics with design-phase and engineering workflows.
- Identify and quantify business cases impacting the firm’s P&L and/or balance sheet, particularly related to resource planning, vendor strategies, and project timelines.
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Economics, Finance, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or Engineering.
- Strong understanding of financial statements and business performance metrics in a project-based environment.
- Proven experience independently managing analytics workstreams and delivering high-quality results on tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated success in at least three operational or performance transformation programs, ideally within the A&E or professional services industry.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel for advanced analysis (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, modeling).
- Proficiency or familiarity with tools/languages such as Alteryx, SQL, R, or Python.
- Experience working with ERP or project management systems used in A&E (e.g., Deltek Costpoint, Deltek Vision, Ajera, Newforma).
- Strong communication and presentation skills; able to partner with both technical teams and firm leadership.
- Ability to navigate and interpret project-related data to inform financial and strategic decisions.
- Deep understanding of how design, engineering, and project delivery processes affect financial outcomes.
