Job Description

Mail Services Manager

This position is accountable for the management of all MTC Mail/Print Services. Ensures the efficient and effective handling of all incoming and outgoing mail for missionaries and MTC employees. Is responsible for hiring and training personnel to achieve maximum efficiency with package receiving/distribution and in processing outbound mail. Work with the MTC Administration to resolve concerns and improve policies and procedures. Analyzing data to improve workflows. Strive to improve processes to enhance missionary experience and operate within the assigned budget. Support all areas within Production Services when time permits.

What you’ll do in this position:

Supervise Mail/Print Center Staff

  • Hire, train, and supervise BYU Students and Service Missionaries
  • Interview, select, and offer positions to potential employees
  • Provide training and produce training materials
  • Create work schedules and monitor work hours
  • Make work assignments
  • Monitor quality of services
  • Regularly evaluate employee performance
  • Terminate or transfer employees, as needed

Supervise Mail/Print Services for Missionaries and MTC Staff

  • Develop and maintain procedures for package distribution from USPS, UPS, Federal Express, and local and overnight courier services:
  • Receiving
  • Distribution for all Missionaries and MTC Staff
  • Notifying recipients
  • Coordinating with MTC Offices
  • Develop and maintain procedures for U.S. Domestic and Foreign mailing, UPS Ground Service, and Federal Express:
  • Ensuring compliance with federal (foreign and domestic) regulations
  • Preparing Outbound Shipments, Parcels and Mail
  • Coordinating with BYU Mail Services and local delivery services
  • Provide careful supervision of special mail such as foreign mail - insured, certified and overnight
  • Maintain Copy Center services

Keep Informed of Changing Postal Regulations

  • Keep current on Federal Postal regulations and changes in United Parcel Service as well as MTC policies and procedures

Support MTC Missionaries and Staff

  • Ensure all shipments conform to Federal and International Air Transport Association regulations and university policies
  • Maintain knowledge of all rates, regulations and services provided by private carriers
  • Track missing or delayed shipments
  • Receive and help customers who call in with questions about shipments
  • Work front counter as needed

What qualifies you for this role:

Required:

  • 2 years supervisor experience
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Teamwork
  • Flexibility
  • Ability to obtain a DOT Physical to drive Mail Service vehicles

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree
