Job Title/Position: Instructional Coach – Title I/II Department/School: Curriculum & Instruction

Pay Information: Teacher Compensation Plan Supervised By: Campus principal where assigned

FLSA: Exempt Date Revised: January 2020

Primary Purpose:

To provide teachers with instructional coaching, training, and support that is aligned with district curriculum and standards. The primary role of the
Instructional Coach is to positively impact student achievement. This will be accomplished by participating in continuous school improvement efforts and by
providing teachers with supplemental instructional coaching, training, and support that is aligned with district curriculum. These efforts are intended to
support teachers as they provide supplemental, targeted instruction and interventions for students in order to meet or exceed state academic standards.
Provides supplemental support to the campus’ professional learning program in accordance with the Elementary & Secondary Education Act.

Minimum Qualifications (Experience/Education/Certification):

Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field; valid Texas Teacher Certificate; five years of teaching experience.

Program Funds Consideration:

Funding for this position is contingent upon the Title I, Part A Program and its coordination to the individual campus needs assessment. The position may be
funded on a year-to-year basis based on the campus needs assessment and availability of supplemental funds.

Major Responsibilities:

Provides coaching to instructional staff which includes, but is not limited to
1. Demonstrate a specific strategy in classroom
2. Discuss the session with teacher
3. Assist teacher in planning lessons using the strategy
4. Collaborate with teacher to evaluate the effectiveness of the strategy
5. Assist in classroom as teacher tries new strategies
6. Hold follow-up conferences with teacher
7. Observe instruction
8. Provide targeted feedback

Coordinate and oversee
9. Review lesson plans, facilitate collaborative planning, and establish instructional norms with campus leadership.
10. Present and/or facilitate professional development in large and small group settings which may include: 

Strategies for working with students in at-risk situations 
Classroom management, Curriculum implementation 
New teacher support, Differentiation ideas; core curriculum assistance 
Instructional strategies and resources, Grade level and department planning

11. Attend regular training/coordination meetings with Department of Curriculum and Innovation.
12. Assist principal and teachers in analyzing academic achievement data and other tools to formulate instructional plans.
13. Assist principal and teachers in implementing effective intervention plans for students.
14. Work, in collaboration with PfISD Curriculum and Innovation Department, to facilitate district instructional initiatives.
15. Attend regular district professional development and other trainings to stay current in educational best practices.
16. Deliver district supported professional development and participates in appropriate curriculum writing projects.
17. Follow Educator Code of Conduct & all policies, procedures, laws and State/Federal regulations.
18. Perform other duties as assigned.

Special Knowledge/Skills: 

Knowledge of curriculum and instruction  Skill in analyzing data and using data tools 

Knowledge of teacher evaluation methods  Skill in working with computer tools, including but not limited to, 
Skill in communicating effectively with others email, internet, word processing and spreadsheets 

Skill in effectively managing a classroom and student behavior 
Skill in using assessment results to shape instruction

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Working Conditions (Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Demands):

Maintain emotional control under stress; biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases; regular in-district travel; prolonged use of computer;
must be able to pull/push/lift and/or carry at least 30 lbs.
