Your role as Manager, Ballpark Security:

The Manager, Ballpark Security is responsible for overseeing and managing the 24/7 security operations at Petco Park to ensure a safe and secure environment for staff, partners, and guests.

All the responsibilities we will trust you with:

  • Oversee Daily Security Operations
  • Manage 24/7 security staffing, scheduling, and shift coverage utilizing ABI
  • Monitor Avigilon surveillance systems and coordinate incident responses
  • Maintain accurate incident logs, investigation reports, and security audits
  • Provide regular updates to senior management and stakeholders
  • Handle escalated issues with patrons, VIPs, and staff professionally
  • Promote a safe and welcoming environment for all facility users
  • Develop and Enforce Security Protocols
  • Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations including those outlined by the California Bureau of Security & Investigative Services (BSIS)
  • Event Security Planning and Execution
  • Coordinate Ballpark Security support of Elite Security for Padres games, concerts, and other large gatherings
  • Liaise with law enforcement, emergency services, and event organizers
  • Personnel Management
  • Recruit, train, and supervise security staff and contractors including MSA K-9
  • Conduct performance reviews and ongoing professional development
  • Manage time off requests and payroll submissions including all meal breaks
  • Emergency Preparedness and Response
  • Work with the Director, Security & Transportation to implement emergency action plans for fire, medical, and active threat scenarios
  • Conduct regular drills and post-incident evaluations
  • Access Control and Perimeter Security
  • Oversee badge systems, entry checkpoints, and credentialing procedures
  • Ensure physical barriers and alarm systems are functioning properly
  • Risk Assessment and Threat Analysis
  • Identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Stay informed on emerging threats and adjust protocols accordingly
  • Technology Integration and Maintenance
  • Work with IT to ensure cybersecurity measures for security systems
  • Oversee the installation and upkeep of cameras, alarms, and communication tools
  • Always represents the Club in a positive and professional manner
  • Other duties as assigned


Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most:

  • Strong understanding of 24/7 security operations and shift coordination
  • Knowledge of access control systems, surveillance technology, and intrusion detection
  • Familiarity with incident command systems (ICS) and emergency protocols
  • Familiarity with Avigilon systems including CCTV, key card access, metal detectors, and radio communications
  • Ability to lead evacuations and coordinate with first responders during crises
  • Strong leadership and team-building abilities in a 24/7 operational environment
  • Knowledge of training programs, certification requirements, and use-of-force policies
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to quickly adapt to and learn new programs, systems, and/or processes
  • General knowledge of office skills, use of office equipment (copier, laser printers, fax machine, telephones, computers)
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with proven ability to correctly use punctuation and grammar
  • Possess a high degree of discretion, integrity, professionalism, and accountability
  • Proven ability to multi-task, attention to detail and manage projects on strict deadlines
  • Strong ability and willingness to work with others in a collaborative, team environment
  • Fluently bilingual in English/Spanish a plus


You will be required to meet the following:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of employment
  • 5-10 years of experience in supervising on-site security teams and command center operations
  • Experience with security management software and digital log/reporting tools
  • Experience managing performance, discipline, and morale in high-stress settings
  • Must possess effective written and oral communication and social skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the public in a professional and effective manner; must be able to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines
  • Must have a general ability in technology and a variety of different types of applications
  • Must have a valid current driver's license with a good driving record (subject to review)
  • Must have a valid BSIS License
  • Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. This includes the ability to work baseball games, post-baseball games, non-baseball events, and traditional office hours, whichever is needed at any given time to meet Club needs
  • Able to travel as needed
  • Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the ballpark for prolonged periods of time during games and events; able to ascend and descend stairs; able to lift and transport up to 50 pounds; able to ride a bicycle for prolonged periods of time.

Pay and additional compensation:

Per the California pay transparency law, the base salary range for this full-time position is $68,640 - $73,000 annually. As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, job-related skills, and any other factors the San Diego Padres considers relevant to the hiring decision for this position.
