Summary

The Quality Assurance Technician supports the quality assurance and food safety programs and actively contributes to our continuous improvement initiatives. This includes reviewing production records, conducting internal audits, and participating in third-party audits. The technician's work is integral to our quest for quality excellence and offers ample opportunities for professional growth.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Quality Assurance Technician's primary mission is to represent our customers within the plant. This position requires high accuracy and organization, as the technician is responsible for ensuring that our products meet and exceed customer expectations.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Review production records for accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with quality and food safety standards.
  • Participate in third-party audits as needed.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain quality assurance records and documentation.
  • Provide training for employees on quality and food safety procedures.
  • Troubleshoot quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Stay up to date on current quality and food safety regulations.
  • Perform in-process checks according to technical and customer specifications.
  • Support other QA Technicians with in-process checks.
  • Identify and contain any non-conforming material.
  • Communicate with operators and shift supervisors' findings/trends.
  • Prepare and distribute Certificates of Analysis.
  • Provide support to manufacturing with problem-solving activities.
  • Manage the filing of records and retain samples.
  • Report safety near misses and observations.
  • Participate in food safety audits and procedures.
  • Maintain work area and equipment following prescribed safety instructions.
  • Provide communication and periodic reports as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Excellent organization, planning, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with a willingness to learn new software.
  • Ability to read, write, and keep records.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
