About The Role

The VP of Development is responsible for assisting either the SVP or EVP, Development Sourcing, with executing regional production targets. Functions include site selection, underwriting, legal negotiations, entitlements, design, investment memorandums, and all other development activities prior to start of construction.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Sourcing, underwriting, structuring, and presenting Class A multifamily development opportunities that meet the Company's investment strategy.
  • Overseeing all aspects of development execution including due diligence, entitlement work, design, preconstruction oversight, development team management and coordination with all partners, consultants, engineers, architects, etc.
  • Coordinating with land use attorneys, architects, engineers, city entities and departments to facilitate the permit process, entitlement analysis and fee verification.
  • Creating, developing, and maintaining project proformas for review by management, financial partners, and owners.
  • Creating and maintaining detailed project schedules for contract due diligence and predevelopment efforts through construction commencement.
  • Proactive at maintaining and procuring local relationships with landowners and the brokerage community.
  • Preparing and presenting investment committee packages outlining the development opportunity.
  • Spearheading all negotiations with land ownership including purchase and sale agreements, CC&R agreements, access and licensing agreements, retail leases for pre-leasing, etc.

Requirements

YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in related field
  • 10+ years of relevant real estate experience
  • Site selection and submarket understanding
  • Underwriting and market analysis experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven organization and time-management skills
  • Highly proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
