SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE:
SREB is looking for a teammate who is committed to using data to enhance education as a (hybrid) Analyst I in our Department of Data & Analytics, in the Office of Postsecondary Education. This role will be responsible for conducting a variety of complex investigations and analyses in support of research projects, policy analysis and assigned initiatives to improve education and provide policymakers with reliable data to inform decision making.
The Southern Regional Education Board works with states to improve education at every level, from pre-K through Ph.D., and the workforce. What does anAnalystI do?
- Collects, compiles, analyzes and reports data and information
- Assist with the development of research plans and methods
- Participates in the compilation, publication and communication of research findings.
- Monitors and interprets legal and regulatory requirements and other relevant issues pertaining to organizational programs and initiatives; evaluates their impact upon organizational and stakeholder
- Creates and distributes surveys, conducts interviews and observations or uses other research methods
- Focus of responsibilities may be research or policy
- Respond to inquiries from stakeholders
- Maintains accurate records and files
- Assists with a variety of projects and initiatives related to department activities
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a team
- Represents the organization with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public
What does it take to be an Analyst I?
Minimum Qualifications

For this opportunity, we seek candidates who have the following attributes:
- Principles and practices of qualitative research
- Quantitative research skills including survey development and analysis.
- Advanced skill with Excel
- Proficient in using data visualization software, preferably Tableau;
- Experienced in using R, STATA or SPSS for statistical analysis.
- Able to write SQL code to develop databases.
- Proficient in using survey software such as Alchemer
- Experience working with large data files
- Experience with workforce data
- Familiar with Salesforce or Snowflake applications
- Knowledgeable of the APA writing style
- Familiar with data sampling and statistical analysis techniques
- Experience compiling and reviewing data and analyses
- Knowledge of functions and operational requirements of educational organizations
- Have respect for inclusivity, demonstrating a commitment to equality and fairness
- Maintain a continuous improvement mindset
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment as well as a face-to-face environment. This hybrid position is located at SREB headquarters in midtown Atlanta
- Able to travel overnight occasionally
- Able to successfully complete a background investigation and drug test
