Description

The SBWIB, Inc. is currently looking for an accomplished Career Services Specialist (CSS) to join our team and lead the job development efforts of our AJCCs/One Stop Business & Career Centers. The Career Services Specialist - Lead Job Developer will be responsible for overseeing job development activities, coordinating work-based learning activities, and leading a team of Job Developers to ensure successful job placement for program participants of diverse backgrounds, including adults, youth, and ex-offenders. This role involves cultivating and maintaining relationships with employers, hiring managers, and community leaders to create meaningful job opportunities for participants. Additionally, the Lead Job Developer will provide training, coaching and performance management to ensure the Job Development Team meets its goals. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of workforce development and social services; strong communication, organization, and leadership skills; and a proven ability to manage a high-performing team in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Career Services Center Manager, the Career Services Specialist (CSS) - Lead Job Developer will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

  • Oversee the centers' job development efforts and ensure program goals and objectives are met
  • Collaborate with management to ensure alignment with company goals, overseeing program planning and service delivery
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers, HR personnel, community leaders, and business owners to create job opportunities and facilitate job placements for diverse program participants, including adults, youth, and ex-offenders
  • Lead and supervise the Job Developers team, monitoring and evaluating team performance to ensure program goals are achieved and job placement efforts are consistently optimized
  • Delegate tasks, set clear team goals, and motivate team members by providing guidance, support, and regular feedback
  • Foster the growth and development of Job Developers by identifying training needs, offering coaching, and promoting continuous professional development to ensure alignment with program goals and industry best practices
  • Promote a positive and innovative team environment by encouraging creativity, recognizing achievements, resolving conflicts, and monitoring team performance to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support the job developers in promoting participants by engaging with employers, organizing job fairs, conducting outreach (cold calls, follow-ups), and matching participants to appropriate job opportunities based on their qualifications.
  • Help coordinate work-based learning activities (e.g., company tours, internships, job shadowing) to enrich participants' career development.
  • Assist participants, as needed, with evaluating career options, selecting training programs, and developing individualized employment plans
  • Screen participants, provide employment preparation, coordinate interviews, and assist with general employment coordination duties to facilitate the hiring process and ensure successful placements, as needed
  • Coordinate and participate in team meetings, conferences, and training activities
  • Conduct off-site assessments, eligibility screenings, and service delivery as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and up-to-date reports in the appropriate databases
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • **Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Business, Public Administration, or a related field;
  • **At least four (4) years of experience in job training and workforce development programs, and/or in the delivery of social service programs
  • In-depth knowledge of or prior experience with WIOA programs and grants
  • Proven work experience as a team leader or supervisor, with in-depth knowledge of performance management and team development practices
  • Prior experience in sales and/or business development, with the ability to establish valuable connections, build employment networks, and effectively promote our programs & participants to potential employers
  • Knowledge of practices and required qualifications across different industry sectors to effectively match candidates with suitable job opportunities.
  • Ability to quickly learn and demonstrate a thorough understanding of program goals, objectives, and compliance policies
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and positively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and needs
  • Exceptional critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex plans or situations, identify inefficiencies, and implement and communicate effective solutions
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and solve problems effectively in fast-paced environments
  • Must have excellent time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work independently, take initiative, and stay focused on achieving goals with minimal supervision
  • Experienced in accessing and managing data within databases to track and update information efficiently
  • Proficient in using computers, general office equipment, and a variety of software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, OneDrive), video conference software (Teams, Zooms), and other relevant tools
  • Reliable transportation with valid California Driver’s License and insurance are required
  • Must also be able to successfully pass background and reference clearances and follow all safety protocols enforced by the Company and as listed under the below working conditions.
  • Alternatively, a satisfactory combination of experience, education, and training demonstrating the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties described (experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis).

Working Conditions

  • Employee may be required to spend the majority of the day walking, standing, sitting at a desk, with some lifting and bending.
  • Must also be able to travel to other locations for trainings, conferences and/or meetings within or outside our local area and occasionally statewide in which such travel may last one (1) or more days - if/as necessary.

Salary & Benefits

This is a full-time, non-exempt position (40 hours/week), generally with a starting pay rate of $31.93 - $36.43 per hour, commensurate with experience. SBWIB, Inc. offers a comprehensive employee benefits package, which includes:
