Job Description:

The staff registered nurse (RN) is a licensed professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for planning, delegating, and coordinating the nursing care of a group of patients during a designated time frame utilizing the John Muir Medical Center Standards of Care, ANA's Standards of Practice and Professional Performance, and the California Nurse Practice Act, Title 22, and Title 16. The RN coordinates and provides care through the therapeutic use of self, nursing process, and the environment and technology, in partnership and collaboration with interdisciplinary team members

- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing - Required
- 2000 hours Nursing - Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)- Must be obtained within last 3 years - Core Requirement
- 1000 hours Nursing - Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) - Must be obtained within last 3 years - Requirement or
- 2000 hours Nursing - Critical Care - Must be obtained within last 3 years - Requirement or
- 2000 hours Nursing - Emergency - Must be Obtained Within last 3 years - Requirement
- RN Registered Nursing - California Board of Nursing - Required
- BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association - Required
- ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association - Required
- Approved Cardiac Rhythm Test - Must Pass at time of hire (Required if hired after 11/15/2018) - Required
- Approved Cardiac Rhythm Test – Internal Candidates Must Pass Prior to Applying for Position (must be proctored in Human Resources) – Required
- Demonstrated competency in current anesthetic agent pharmacology, cardiac pharmacology, vasoactive therapy, and ventilator set-up/management, and emergency interventions including defibrillation
- Must be able to assume role of relief charge nurse
- Must be able to manage the entire spectrum of care for patients receiving conscious sedation
- Must be able to start difficult IV's
- Must demonstrate competency in a PACU assignment within 1 year
