Location: Altru Health System Pay Range: $57,824.00 - $86,756.80 Summary: The Coding Educator is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating training programs for medical coders, providers, and clinical staff to ensure accurate and compliant coding practices. This role plays a critical part in optimizing revenue cycle performance, maintaining regulatory compliance, and supporting ongoing education efforts in CPT, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and HCPCS coding. The Coding Educator will conduct audits, identify trends, and provide targeted education based on findings to improve coding accuracy and reduce denials Essential Job Functions:
  • Designs, delivers, and evaluates comprehensive coding education programs for new and existing coding providers and staff
  • Conducts routine and ad-hoc coding audits; analyzes results to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
  • Provides feedback, coaching, and one-on-one education based on audit findings and performance metrics
  • Stays up-to-date with current coding guidelines, payer policies, and regulatory updates (CMS, AMA, OIG, etc.)
  • Collaborates with compliance, clinical documentation improvement (CDI), revenue integrity, and billing teams to align education with enterprise goals
  • Develops training materials, reference guides, and online modules using best practices in adult education
  • Partners with providers and clinical staff to educate on documentation best practices that support compliant and accurate coding
  • Acts as a subject matter expert (SME) for coding-related inquiries and serve as a resource to internal stakeholders
  • Assists with onboarding and training of new hires and support cross-training efforts within the department
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization
