Job Description

LWCC is seeking a junior, senior, or graduate student with experience in graphic design to be a part of the Marketing and Communications Team’s efforts to consistently deliver on the company’s bold vision to be a catalyst to elevate Louisiana’s position in America. The expected duration of this internship is 1 year.

LWCC’s Marketing & Communications team functions as an in-house creative production unit, providing graphic design support for internal departments and external-facing initiatives. The graphic design intern will work directly with our Creative Strategist and Graphic Designer to develop first-class marketing materials. This intern will be expected to utilize a full range of graphic design skills and develop an ability to communicate strategically through design.

Graphic Design Internship responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with and often lead on the creation of a wide range of materials that may include marketing materials, email campaigns, social media graphics, web pages, presentations, program collateral, signage, internal communication, advertising, and brand identity development in support of both marketing and communications strategies and core business initiatives
  • Proof and edit existing company documents, presentations, and communications
  • Develop artwork files with good craft, organization, and proper formatting
  • Update and maintain internal databases of designs, photography, and video assets
  • Seek input from relevant team members and incorporating feedback, ensuring final deliverables meet organizational standards, brand expectations, and express messages accurately
  • Conduct research on design trends and current events
  • Project management including, but not limited to, internal marketing support requests
  • Creative conceptualization, graphic design, and document layout
  • Administrative duties and general office duties as needed to support projects and overall team
  • Working independently on multiple projects while maintaining open communication and collaboration with the Marketing and Communications team, internal LWCC departments, and creative external vendors
  • Photograph a variety of company events, as needed (equipment provided)

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate is a hard-working junior, senior, or graduate student who exhibits confidence and is not afraid to jump in and contribute to the team and its projects. We are seeking a student in good academic standing who can manage multiple responsibilities and continue to deliver high-quality service and outputs. A strategic thinker with a creative mind and an eye for detail can add value to this growing team. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills are a must.

  • Majoring in a related field (e.g., graphic design or advertising)
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Adobe Illustrator)
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (specifically PowerPoint and Word)
  • Good sense of typography and layouts
  • Digital portfolio or examples of past work
  • Understanding of the basic principles of marketing and communications
  • Excellent verbal communications skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Effective time management skills
  • Computer illustration, photography, and photo retouching experience a plus
  • Experience with web design a plus
  • Experience in project management systems, specifically Basecamp, a plus
  • Desire to learn and accept feedback
