Position Summary

The Supervisor of Logistics provides leadership and daily oversight of the DNW’s fleet and transportation team. The role monitors and regularly works to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of logistics operations focusing on decreasing loss of donation opportunities and utilizing internal and external resources effectively.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities

Daily Operations Oversight

  • Provides daily oversight, coaching, and guidance to transportation/driver team who provide tissue donor, organ and tissue surgical team, and courier services.
  • Ensures that systems and processes involving the transportation of staff, teams, organs, and tissues to and from donor recoveries are in place and followed.
  • Supports Logistics and Donor Operations Management to ensure optimal staffing at all times by serving as an active supervisor, which includes routine frontline shift and direct backup support during increased activity levels as well as addressing unexpected staffing needs.
  • Participates in on-call supervisor schedule. Required to cover any Logistics Department critical staffing needs, in the event adequate coverage cannot be found.
  • Supports the work of the Administrator on-call (AOC) and Clinical Operations Manager (COM) by providing consistent first-line advice and counsel for issues related to organ and tissue logistical operations.
  • Works under the guidance of the Manager of Logistics.

Process Improvement

  • Participates as requested in the development, implementation, and updating of DNWest’s policies and procedures as they relate to both organ and tissue logistics.
  • Supports Logistics Management in the development of the strategic plan and effectively implements strategies as instructed by Manager of Logistics.
  • When necessary, assists in the occurrence report system, investigates, and performs root cause analyses.
  • Supports Logistics Management in strategies to increase communication, develop trust and intra-departmental collaboration; works to integrate frontline talent.
  • Supports Logistics Management in shared projects as assigned by Manager of Logistics.

Talent Development and Succession Planning

  • As a member of the Logistics Management team, participates in creating and maintaining a safe and confidential environment for direct reports.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to the logistics team, including recruitment, hiring, training, counseling, mentoring, and all aspects of performance management including disciplinary action if needed.
  • Focuses on coaching and mentoring driving staff, implements field assessments and annual competencies to improve fleet performance, and provides continual feedback and frontline support.
  • Models compliance to staff by routinely staying up to date in all competencies, best practices, and DNW SOP’s.
  • Helps logistics staff to identify and attain professional goals and objectives while focusing on retention and individual needs of logistics staff. Contributes to appropriate documentation of logistics staff development.

Fleet Management Responsibilities

  • Supports Logistics Management with the oversight, maintenance, etc. of DNW fleet vehicles.
  • Supports Logistics Management with the Preventive Maintenance Program to ensure DNW fleet vehicles are always operating at peak performance and safety.
  • Ensures fleet maintains constant regulatory requirements including but not limited to, quarterly fleet inspections, biannual decontamination, vehicle registrations, vehicle insurance, and DMV regulations.
  • Ensures up-to-date and detailed documentation of all fleet records.
  • Maintains professional working relationships with all external fleet rental, repair, fabrication, and body shops as assigned by Manager of Logistics.

Professional/Personal Competency

  • Maintains professional competence to provide leadership and consultative services to direct reports, transplant centers, hospital partners, and DNW internal departments.
  • Maintains current knowledge of national and local regulations and best practices in logistical operations.
  • Works to develop and maintain active membership in professional associations, participation at workshops, and seminars.

Qualifications

Education And Experience

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Logistics based role/organization or in tissue and/or organ services.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.

$80,713 - $100,891 a year
