Summary of Position
The Custodian is responsible for the custodial work in and outside of the building and surrounding grounds. An employee in this position is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning duties as well as minor maintenance tasks.
Major Duties And Responsibilities
Sweeping, mopping and vacuuming floors
Dusting all parts of the office that can be reached while standing on the floor
Damp wiping glass and other specified areas
Emptying waste receptacles
Servicing soap dispensers, toilet paper holders, paper towel dispensers
Dusting windowsills, ledges, grills and similar items
Cleaning tile on walls, mirrors, shelves, dispensers, receptacles, stall partitions and doors
Washing basins, commodes and urinals
Polishing metal work as directed
Sweeping, mopping and scrubbing floors
Servicing soap dispensers, toilet paper holders and towel dispensers
Clean refrigerator and microwave
Wipe table and chairs
Sweep, mop and vacuum floors
Clean counters and sinks
Shampooing, stripping, waxing and buffing floors
Performing special cleaning necessitated by the Center's staff changing and vacating office space or holding special meetings
Snow removal from sidewalks
Cleaning up results of accidents such as coffee and beverage spills, dropped food items, broken glass and many others
Set up and take down of items in conference room for activities scheduled
Wall Washing
Corridor and Reception Area cleaning
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. The individual must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and to provide direction for professional and non-professional personnel. The individual must possess good hmnan relations skill, strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively deal with people at different organizational levels both inside and outside the agency. The individual must have well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to develop conceptual alternatives. Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles along with the willingness to incorporate them into existing practices. The individual must have own transportation, a clean driving record and verification of insurance.
Education And/Or Experience
High School graduate or G.E.D. required. Progressive experience in the field of sanitation engineering and at least one (I) year experience as a general Custodian.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in office areas as well as throughout the facility. Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours. Interacts with clients and staff under all conditions and circumstances.
All employees before beginning the job must pass a background check through the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
