Child and Family Services is a 150-year-old agency with deep roots in the community and our mission is nurturing a healthy and more equitable Western New York for the benefit of current and future generations. Working a hybrid schedule, both at home and in our 3901 Genesee Street location, you will provide direct administrative support to our HR Department and are responsible for the smooth functioning of our talent acquisition and onboarding processes.
What does a day in the life of the Human Resources Assistant look like?
On a typical day, you will provide administrative support to the CHRO, and assist with Human Resources processes such as recruitment, onboarding, employee questions, e-filing, and other day-to-day HR functions.

What does a day in the life of the Human Resources Assistant look like?
On a typical day, you will provide administrative support to the CHRO, and assist with Human Resources processes such as recruitment, onboarding, employee questions, e-filing, and other day-to-day HR functions.
As The Human Resources Assistant, Your Day Will Include
- Providing administrative support to the CHRO and HR department staff.
- Processing new hire paperwork including running background checks, coordinating with hiring managers and documentation filing.
- Compiling and updating employee records, ensuring file compliance.
- Managing the importing of information to employee electronic files.
- Processing the monthly department expense report.
- Coordinating agency birthday and anniversary gifts including purchasing, providing and monitoring spending report
- Filing agency trainings, certifications, and employee memos.
- Assisting with periodic program audits as requested.
- Assisting with new hire orientation, including set up, introduction and coordination.
- Completion of employment verification requests.
- Resetting employee passwords and troubleshooting log in errors.
- Participating in developing department goals, objectives and processes.
- Maintaining current working knowledge of the HRIS.
- Actively acquiring employment and labor laws, legal and regulatory knowledge, as applicable.
- Maintaining knowledge of Agency programs and services while maintaining positive working relationships with program staff and others within the agency.
- Modeling and practicing kindness, teamwork, sensitivity, confidentiality, fair treatment and inclusion in all interpersonal interactions.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field and at least one (1) year of support experience in an office setting, preferably in HR.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong computer experience including Excel and all other MS Office programs.
- The strongest attention to detail, ability to multi-task and follow-up on priority tasks.
