a talented, experienced Staff Mechanical Engineer to help define the future
of lunar surface mobility in a fast-paced startup environment.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee mechanical engineering teams working on multiple concurrent
projects, from conception through completion, ensuring adherence to
timelines, budgets, and quality standards; continually optimizing
resource allocations to meet programmatic objectives and deadlines
Guide and mentor engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work
environment
Direct engineering analysis efforts, including static and dynamic FEA,
modal analysis, and/or fatigue and fracture analysis, loads analysis,
composites analysis (both strength & fracture) & design,
FCP/LCP/SVP/FSCP etc., mechanisms design (lubrication,
redundancy, DOF manageme
Oversee rapid prototyping efforts to validate concepts quickly and
cost-effectively
Ensure all mechanical designs comply with applicable industry standards and
regulatory requirements; produce, review, and approve technical documentation
Present and mature mechanical engineering projects within aerospace review
structures (SRR, PDR, CDR)
Create and manage designs for mechanical hardware, applying best practices
in CAD for parts and assemblies to ensure robustness and reliability in
complex designs
Develop and lead manufacturing plans for parts using a range of processes,
including CNC milling, 3D printing, lathe work, sheet metal bending,
and water-jetting/laser-cutting
Required Qualifications
10+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and driven to meet critical deadlines
Strong organizational and management skills
Proficiency in setting up and interpreting Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
models and analysis results
Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools such as Bild,
JIRA, and equivalents
Prior experience on space programs doing either mechanisms or structures
Prior management of CAD files/drawings in configuration management environment
Exceptional written and oral communication abilities
Must be a U.S. Persons
Preferred Qualifications
Expertise in SolidWorks and proficiency in CAM software (e.g., HSMWorks or
MasterCAM)
Hands-on experience operating CNC machines
Experience with thermo-structural design including heat sinking and thermal
isolation
Relevant experience in technology, hardware, and/or spaceflight startup
environment
Relevant experience with NASA and Government customers, deliverables,
reviews, and standards
