The Impact You Will Make

The Assistant Grounds Superintendent plays a key role in supporting the daily maintenance and operations of Everstory Partner’s cemetery and funeral home properties. Working closely with the Grounds Superintendent, this position helps ensure a safe and respectful environment for families and visitors while overseeing grounds keeping, equipment upkeep, and facility care. This role also includes hands-on landscape maintenance, equipment operation, and assisting with training and support for maintenance personnel when needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Grounds Superintendent with ensuring the safety of all patrons who visit cemeteries and funeral homes and all employees. This includes enforcement of all policies and procedures.
  • Manages all maintenance personnel to carry out maintenance on all properties, buildings, and fixtures while the Grounds Superintendent is away.
  • Ensures maintenance of all StoneMor properties and their improvements, including buildings and their fixtures, equipment, and all operations.
  • Assists the Grounds Superintendent in managing Maintenance Personnel support and ongoing training when necessary.
  • Performs all landscape maintenance duties such as weed-whacking, lawn mowing, etc.
  • Maintains equipment
  • Operates machinery appropriately in a safe manor
  • Installs or assists in installing cemetery vaults
  • Installs headstones or memorials as needed
  • Handles the day-to-day general maintenance duties
  • Handles snow removal
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Grounds Superintendent.
  • Position provides supervision of maintenance staff in the absence of the Grounds Superintendent.

Requirements

  • High School equivalency required.
  • 1+ years of grounds maintenance supervisory experience.
  • 2+ years of mechanical/building maintenance experience.
  • Cemetery work experience is preferred.
  • Ability to supervise and train maintenance employees.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with interruptions.
  • Ability to operate maintenance equipment and machinery including backhoe and mowing/trimming equipment.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have a valid state driver’s license.
