Essential Duties And Responsibilities

- Lead site-specific part-time staff
- Manage participant behavior in a positive, respectful manner
- Plan, create, organize, and facilitate a variety of daily enrichment and academic activities
- Implement and model respect for all spaces and materials used
- With team, supervise up to 125+ children, from ages 5-15
- Attend and participate in meetings and trainings
- Enforce applicable rules and regulations with program participants
- Ensure adherence to established safety procedures
- Follow program structure
- Provide CPR/first aid
- Ensure first aid supplies and emergency equipment are in order and accessible
- Maintain reliable attendance to maintain safety and the staff to child ratio
- Consistently model and guide participants in character development
- Communicate with parents/guardians or visitors; provide assistance and initiate problem resolution
- Assist with discipline cases involving program participants
- Inform the public about programs and department policies and procedures in a polite and effective manner
- Responsible for input of participant data
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Perform other related work as required
- Enthusiastic and positive attitude
- Excellent communication skills with parents, teachers, and other childcare workers
- Ability to learn and enforce the safety and operating rules
- Ability to maintain attention and high level of motivation and enthusiasm for extended periods of time
- Ability to be patient and understanding when working with children and interacting with parents/guardians
- Some knowledge of childcare principles and procedures
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have access to reliable transportation
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Must be able to commit to 1:45-6:15pm shift, Monday thru Friday (school year) and an 8 hour shift, Monday thru Friday (summer)
- At least one year of youth work experience preferred
- Must pass a background check that encompasses national, state and local searches
