THE POSITION

Scientist, Medicinal Chemistry

Evommune is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Scientist to join our Drug Discovery team. This individual will play a key role in advancing our early-stage pipeline by supporting key activities across the discovery process, from screening through early development. This is a non-lab-based role focused on the strategic and operational aspects of discovery research.

We are looking for someone with a deep passion for drug discovery, strong scientific acumen, and the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and with external partners.

This hybrid position is currently expected to be in our Palo Alto office 2 days a week with the option of working remotely 3 days a week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to idea generation and compound design using medicinal chemistry principles, molecular modeling, and rational drug design strategies.
  • Manage external CRO relationships to ensure efficient compound synthesis, characterization, and logistics.
  • Maintain compound registration and manage in vitro pharmacology and ADME data, ensuring proper formatting and sharing of data across teams.
  • Collaborate with in vitro biology team to manage the compound library and sample formatting for assays.
  • Analyze and interpret SAR data; prepare and present findings to internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support hypothesis-driven drug design, modeling, and data analysis.

Qualifications

  • PhD in synthetic organic or medicinal chemistry with a strong foundation in synthetic methods.
  • 0–4 years of relevant experience, preferably in biotech or pharmaceutical settings.
  • Proficiency with molecular modeling tools and computational formats (e.g., sdf files, SMILES).
  • Experience with data handling, cloud-based platforms, and Excel-based analysis.
  • Strong understanding of medicinal chemistry concepts including ADME, PK, and physicochemical properties.
  • Experience or interest in immunology, inflammation, or small molecule drug discovery is a plus.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates a “can-do” mindset and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and external partners.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $116,000 - $150,000 and the position may be eligible for performance-based bonuses and/or equity-linked compensation. Salary ranges are determined by role, level and location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
