We are a well-established chemical manufacturing company in Southern California is seeking a strategic and experienced Purchasing & Procurement Manager to join their Supply Chain leadership team. This role is pivotal to the continued efficiency and profitability of their operations, ensuring critical raw materials and non-inventory supplies are sourced effectively, economically, and in compliance with internal quality standards and external regulations.
 
You will lead purchasing operations, oversee vendor relationships, and help refine procurement strategies to align with broader business goals. This is an exciting opportunity to influence sourcing decisions, implement best practices, and make a direct impact on both cost management and supply chain continuity.
 
Key Responsibilities:



  • Lead and develop the procurement team, providing clear direction, support, and performance oversight.




  • Create and implement strategic sourcing plans that balance cost, quality, risk, and service objectives.




  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships while negotiating favorable pricing, terms, and delivery conditions.




  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams in order to align purchasing with organizational needs.




  • Analyze supply and market trends to anticipate challenges and capitalize on cost-saving opportunities.




  • Ensure procurement activities support compliance with industry standards.




  • Manage vendor claims, including damaged goods and returns, with a solutions-oriented approach.




  • Maintain optimal inventory levels through demand forecasting and proactive planning.




  • Continuously improve procurement processes and utilize ERP systems and data analytics to drive results.




 
Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred




  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain roles, preferably within manufacturing or food/chemical-related industries




  • Experience managing direct reports and leading procurement teams




  • Negotiation skills with proven success securing competitive supplier contracts




  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems and various data reporting tools




  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite




  • Working knowledge of commodity markets and global sourcing best practices




  • APICS certification or similar credential is a plus
