As a Customs Compliance Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth, compliant, and efficient processing of import operations in accordance with U.S. Customs regulations. The Customs Specialist is a member of the Siemens Industry, Inc. Customs team within the Siemens US Customs organization, and reports to the Operational Customs Supervisor.

As a Customs Compliance Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth, compliant, and efficient processing of import operations in accordance with U.S. Customs regulations. The Customs Specialist is a member of the Siemens Industry, Inc. Customs team within the Siemens US Customs organization, and reports to the Operational Customs Supervisor.
You’ll make an impact by:
- Documenting, implementing and maintaining standard processes and work instructions
- Working with Siemens US Customs peers and the business to identify opportunities to drive efficiencies
- Obtaining necessary information, applying the standard methodology, and documenting the rationale for determining the HTS US product classification.
- Performing periodic audits of product classifications and import documentation for clearance instructions.
- Compiling and reporting information relevant to product classification
- Retaining records in accordance with Customs regulations
- Ensuring conformance with applicable laws and regulations
- Providing training to peers, Siemens US Customs community and/or the business to facilitate awareness of and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Identifying risk and actively working with the department, management, and others as necessary to develop and communicate change to: mitigate risk, improve compliance, facilitate business trade activities and harmonize process methods and standards
- Identifying, developing, communicating and actively pursuing opportunities for standardizing and streamlining processes across the US
- Consulting with the Siemens US Customs community, management, and others on an ongoing basis on complex issues and/or proposed change
- Collaborating with various team members on cross-departmental activities
- Understanding complex global transactions and applying the correct guidance to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and the Internal Control Program.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts
- Minimum 5 years in international trade compliance / trade management with 2 years focus on Product Classification for HTS US
- USMCA certifications and regulations
- U.S. Customs entry writing
- Partner Governing Agency reporting
- Working knowledge of SAP
- Advanced skills with MS Office products
- Review / comprehend technical specifications, drawings, or other product information
- Perform research (online or otherwise) to obtain necessary product details for classification purposes and/or clearance instructions.
- Ability to review / comprehend technical specifications, drawings, or other product information
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
- Engineering, drafting, or material management experience is a plus
- Bilingual with Spanish and/or German as second language
- License Custom Broker
- Work in a fast-paced environment
- Work with minimal guidance or direction
- Detail oriented
- Identify and implement process improvement opportunities
- Effectively manage change
- Work in multi-cultural corporate business setting

- The pay range for this position is $65,660 - $112,560. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
