Fiber Construction Laborer

Socket is seeking a skilled Construction Laborer to join our talented workforce. This position involves preparing and cleaning construction sites in advance of fiber optic cable installation. The role requires physical labor in highway and heavy construction environments and includes travel throughout the Mid-Missouri region. This role will work with our Outside Plant team and the Fiber Design team to ensure delivery due dates are met.

Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare sites to ensure maximum optimization of construction work procedures
• Clean and maintain construction equipment
• Load and unload equipment from trucks
• Drive trucks carrying materials and equipment
• Interpret blueprints and designs
• Manage traffic flow when working in road rights-of-way
• Clear and prepare highway work zones
• Use hand tools to cut and shape material
• Dig trenches and pour concrete
• Operate various construction equipment
• Handles questions and concerns presented by customers
• Complete tasks on time
• Regular reliable attendance
• Skills:
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to follow directions
• Knowledge of pulling cable, terminate, and cable standards
• Ability to use test equipment
• Install and repair phone lines or sprinkler systems if damaged
• Installation of cabling at customer premises
• Experience with CAT 3 and CAT 5 cabling
• Ability to lift up to 70lbs
