Job Duties
- Patient Monitoring: Continuously monitor patient vital signs, pain levels, and overall condition following surgery. Adjust care as needed and respond swiftly to any signs of distress or complications.
- Patient Assessment: Perform thorough assessments to identify any deviations from expected outcomes. This includes neurological assessments, airway management, and recognition of the signs and symptoms of anesthesia-related complications.
- Medication Administration: Administer medications as prescribed to manage pain and other post-operative conditions. Ensure accurate documentation of all medications administered.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about post-operative care, including pain management, wound care, and any specific instructions related to the surgical procedure.
- Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care. Communicate effectively regarding patient status and recovery progress.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including assessments, interventions, and patient responses.
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) minimum.
- Licensure: Current RN license in the state of employment.
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
- Experience: Previous experience in PICU, or a related critical care setting is highly preferred. New graduates with appropriate clinical rotations may be considered.
- PALS, MAB/CPI, LA City Fire and Life Safety card (must be LA City)
- Minimum of two (2) years of OR experience
