Title: Assistant Front Desk Manager

Division: Hotel - Rooms

Department: Front Desk

Reports to: Front Desk Manager

Job Summary

Assist the Director of the Front Desk in directing and supervising the operational activities of the hotel’s front desk within corporate and hotel guidelines to provide the highest standards of courteous service while permitting acceptable profit levels. Act as Front Desk Manager in the absence of said individual.

The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below or through the exercise of sound, reasonable judgment and initiative in the performance of job responsibilities.

Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives.

Summary Of Essential Job Functions

  • Review VIP reservations, amenity orders, and resumes for incoming and in-house guests.
  • Update the computer system
  • Monitor the inventory to ensure that groups and special blocks are handled correctly
  • Communicate with other departments to ensure proper handling of guests and groups
  • Perform front desk duties
  • Handle cash, make change and balance assigned bank
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to prove clear direction to staff
  • Observe performance and encourage improvement of staff

Educational/Experience Requirements

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a four-year college or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities
  • At least one year of front desk management experience required

Abilities Required

  • Ability to deal with guests, some of which will require a large amount of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger and resolve conflicts
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to listen and speak effectively in English
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs
  • Ability to use a fairly complex computer system
  • Must have a valid DL
