Overall Purpose:
The core mission of the Investment Research Associate is to provide support in our mutual fund research process, coordinating with fund companies and supplying data and analysis for the team. Our goal is to identify fund managers who can outperform their like-kind index, net of fees.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate with fund companies to gather relevant data and insights
- Assist in the research and evaluation of mutual fund managers with a focus on performance
- Analyze publicly available materials and fund data to assess manager philosophy, discipline, and decision-making
- Help prepare and participate in manager due diligence, including interviews and on-site visits
- Support the development and maintenance of capital market expectations
- Draft and present research findings and recommendations to the investment team
- Strong analytical skills with sound judgment and attention to detail
- Effective communicator—both written and verbal—with the ability to translate complex topics clearly
- Investigative mindset with curiosity and discipline to dig deeper into data and manager claims
- Organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently and on a team
- High level of personal accountability and ownership of outcomes
- Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Finance, Economics, or related field preferred
- Unusual passion for studying markets and economics
