The Assistant Teacher is responsible for helping to provide a safe, caring, loving Christian environment for the children entrusted to the Early Learning Ministry. The Assistant Teacher will assist in delivering age appropriate instruction and accomplishing classroom duties. The Assistant Teacher will also help E91 children thrive and grow and the Center to become a significant Christ centered resource within the community.

  • Assist classroom teacher in teaching, general supervision and management of a classroom of preschool age children
  • Provide a safe and secure Christian environment
  • Be aware of and responsive to the feelings and special needs of individual children
  • Treat all children with dignity and respect
  • Help children keep track of belongings
  • Assume leadership in supervising the classroom when the teacher is absent
  • Understand and support the philosophy of child care and education as embraced and practice by E91 ELM
  • Recognize and follow through with outreach opportunities
  • Maintain good communication with parents
  • Refer cases of difficult behavior, parent complaints or other problems to teacher
  • Assist in implementing the daily program under direction of classroom teacher
  • Assist in planning and preparing learning environment, setting up interest centers, preparing needed materials and supplies
  • Assume responsibility for leading a part of the program day (i.e. music, science, sharing, closing, circle time, etc.) as requested by the Teacher
  • Notify teacher of needed supplies
  • Attend all staff meetings
  • Participate in required in-service training sessions
  • Collaborate constructively and problem solve with lead teacher and other staff members
  • Attend required summer orientation nights and Parent Orientation Nights
  • Flexibility to perform Assistant Teacher duties with any age group and willingness to serve where needed.
