Role Overview

The Information Security Analyst 1 is an entry-level position that principally handles Tier 1 Information Security functions. This position is responsible for defining, contributing to, and strengthening, the corporate Information Security program by handling Information Security service desk tickets and other duties, as required.

This position ensures that secure computing practices are adhered to throughout the organization, and that the business is conducted in accordance with established guidelines and regulatory requirements. This role frequently works with employees and outside business partners, creates and provides training, and communicates with technical and non-technical audiences about security topics. This is a technical position that requires knowledge of basic security industry standards, the ability to effectively resolve service desk tickets, and the ability to follow technical security processes.

The primary function of an Information Security Analyst 1 is assisting end-users and the business in preventing cyber-attacks on computer systems from hackers and viruses. They handle Tier 1 questions and support related to information security.

Essential Duties: In addition to related job duties as assigned, this position will:

• Work with and address in a timely manner all service desk tickets in the Information Security work queue.
• Ensures that the corporate IT environment is secure and complies with all external audit requirements and federal standards.
• Coordinate with systems and network engineers for assistance with IT related issues, as needed.
• Identify potential security risks and define and document remediation options or mitigating controls.
• Perform security incident investigations including chain of custody, containment measures, root cause analysis, and identification of preventive measures.
• Define and assist in the management of an Incident Response Team that addresses potential or in-progress security events, establishing and adhering to escalation procedures and response times.
• Perform information systems evidence gathering, to support e-discovery requests and messaging searches.
• Review violations of security procedures and review procedures with violators to prevent recurrence.
• Review and approve submitted applications and systems change requests for security compliance.
• Provide subject matter expertise, counsel, and input for enterprise-wide information security initiatives, strategies, projects, and policies.
• Maintain certifications and keep up to date with current information technology.
