Are you a hands-on HR professional ready to own the full HR function in a dynamic, growing company? We’re a family-owned business with approximately 200 employees operating across multiple states—including California — and we’re looking for a Human Resources Manager who’s ready to lead with heart, roll up their sleeves, and make an impact.

This is a high-ownership, individual contributor role — you’ll be the go-to person for everything HR, from recruiting and onboarding to compliance and benefits administration.

What You’ll Do

HR Leadership & Strategy

  • Serve as the primary HR advisor to ownership and leadership.
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and practices to support our business goals and reflect our employee-first culture.
  • Promote an inclusive and productive workplace environment across all locations.

Recruiting & Onboarding

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment for both field and office roles.
  • Coordinate all aspects of onboarding and orientation to ensure a strong start for new hires.
  • Build and maintain recruiting pipelines and referral strategies.

Employee Relations

  • Be the point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and workplace issues.
  • Guide managers through performance conversations and address employee relations matters with professionalism and empathy.

Compensation, Benefits & Insurance

  • Administer employee benefits, open enrollment, and day-to-day benefit questions.
  • Oversee compensation changes and partner with payroll to ensure accurate execution.
  • Coordinate with brokers and providers for renewals and benefit strategy.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure HR practices comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws — especially California labor regulations.
  • Maintain all employee records and documentation with confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Complete required filings (ACA, EEO-1, etc.) and manage unemployment, leave, and workers’ comp claims.

HRIS & Systems

  • Manage our HRIS (Paylocity) to track employee data, benefits, performance, and timekeeping.
  • Generate reports and insights to support decision-making and workforce planning.
  • Partner with accounting/payroll to ensure smooth integration of data and processes.

What We’re Looking For

  • 8-10 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2+ years in a sole HR or generalist capacity.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law, with California compliance expertise required and multi-state experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and balance strategic planning with day-to-day execution.
  • Experience using HRIS systems — Paylocity experience a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • 401(k) plan with employer discretionary contribution
  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • A supportive leadership team and the opportunity to shape HR in a values-driven organization

If you’re ready to bring your HR expertise to a company where your work truly matters — and where you’ll be valued as both a strategic advisor and trusted team member — we want to hear from you.
