The successful candidate will join the Facility Operations to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering Contract (CMOE) located at NASA Langley Research Center. This position reports directly to the Facility Operations Data Systems Support supervisor. All work will be performed with a high standard of quality and professionalism. All safety policies and procedures must be followed.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Customer support response for IT support of Jacobs Tidewater Operations Group (JTOG) office equipment , m anage ticket system for all IT support requests, m anage backups and recoveries for the IT equipment in the JTOG office
  • Escalate support request to senior system administrators
  • Develop new or improve existing quality procedures
  • Ensure hardware and installed applications are managed in accordance with the configuration management program
  • Setup new equipment following procedures for related operating system installations with all security requirements applied
  • Support hardware/software upgrades to current revision levels for the Ground Data Systems (GDS) at NASA Langley Research Center
  • For the GDS perform NESSUS scanning and mitigate vulnerabilities via WSUS patch process, application removal, or application-level updates as required.
  • Under the supervision of senor level system administrator diagnose equipment failures; formulate and execute repair; communicate diagnostic and repairs with stakeholders; and record the changes in the CM system
  • Administer user accounts and provide password services as required in accordance with the GDS Security Plan
  • Establish system recovery backups or images in support of any equipment changes related to the GDS security plan
  • Under the supervision of senor level system administrator implement the security controls as defined in NIST SP 800-53.
  • Maintain the GDS Security Plan requirements when new systems are implemented

U.S. Citizenship is re quired. B.S. degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university and (0) zero to (1) one year of related experience, or a MS degree, or Ph.D. IT related certificates preferred (e.g. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and/or CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CompTIA Security Plus certification, Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP))

Essential Functions

Work Environment:

Office Environment 90%. An office or Control Room environment is the typical work area. Project implementations or troubleshooting events will be in an industrial or laboratory environment. Test/Industrial Environment-may be exposed to areas of high voltage, high noise levels, hazardous propellants, explosives, chemicals, and industrial facilities (10%). Travel to other buildings onsite or nearby off-site facilities will be required and may bring exposure to loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment operation (10%). Appropriate PPE and training will be provided.

Physical Requirements:

Potential exposure to high noise levels, hazardous chemicals, propellants and the like (20%). Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions. Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift up to 35lbs with/without accommodation (100%)

Software: MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Other Essential Functions:

U.S. Citizenship required. A valid driver’s license is required. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety/risk hazard to the employee or others. Must be able to balance scope, schedule and budget to insure project success. The work environment requires the ability to cooperate and work with individuals at all levels of the company and the client. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required.
