Aralez Bio

Date: 8 hours ago
City: Berkeley, California
Salary: $100,000 - $150,000 per year
Contract type: Full time
About the Company

We envision a world where we continuously, sustainably, and affordably improve human life with synthetic biology. Our proprietary set of enzymes and our manufacturing approach enables the production of thousands of amino acids that were previously too difficult and expensive to make. These "noncanonical" amino acids that we make are already catalyzing the creation of revolutionary and innovative products that are good for people and the planet.

Our technology outperforms traditional manufacturing approaches by 10–100x across the board. We already sell products to Big 10 Pharmaceutical companies, and our product family includes the key components of multi-billion dollar blockbuster drugs such as Ozempic and Mounjaro.

We are a diverse, passionate, interdisciplinary team that finds joy in building something new that leaves the world better than we found it. We strive to always learn and improve and have a deep desire to capitalize on our creativity and be exceptional at what we do.

About the role

We're looking for a marketer who can do more than just run campaigns: they can connect our products to the scientists who need them. As our first dedicated marketing hire, you'll build the foundation for how Aralez Bio engages with current and future customers. You'll report to the VP of Sales and work closely with our sales and scientific teams to generate demand, qualify leads, and support buying decisions through smart, useful content.

This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a cross-functional environment, balances creativity with data, and isn't afraid to dive into technical subject matter. You'll own all our customer-facing marketing channels and campaigns, and your work will directly shape how customers find us, understand us, and choose to work with us.

Success in this role means delivering a measurable increase in qualified leads, improving the efficiency of the sales process, and helping us sharpen our product messaging and positioning through real customer insight.

On-site in Berkeley, CA is preferred, but hybrid or remote arrangements are possible.

What You'll Do

Generate Demand: Bring in the right potential customers through targeted content and campaigns.

  • Own customer-facing marketing channels (e.g. website, email, social media, webinar, conference) and track their performance.
  • Create campaigns and content that attract life science/biotech audiences and positions Aralez as a thought leader.

Qualify Leads: Deliver high-quality, sales-ready leads with the context sales needs to take action.

  • Own lead capture workflows (e.g., forms, landing pages, automation) and create multi-touch nurture campaigns to move leads toward sales readiness.
  • Evaluate and prioritize leads based on MQL criteria, ensuring sales receives qualified prospects with relevant context.
  • Monitor lead performance through the funnel and adjust targeting and nurture strategy to improve conversion to SQL.

Sales Enablement: Accelerate deals and expand opportunities with sharp, well-informed materials and positioning.

  • Conduct research (e.g., market intel, sales calls, usage data) to understand customer needs, objections, and market trends.
  • Apply insights to create tailored sales content for a scientific audience, guide product and market direction, and support launches with clear messaging and training materials.

What You'll Bring

  • Demonstrated ability to independently execute marketing campaigns, create content, and support sales without heavy oversight—this is the first full-time marketing role at Aralez Bio.
  • Experience marketing to technical buyers, ideally within pharma, biotech, or related scientific industries.
  • Sees marketing as a way to help technical buyers find and choose the right solution by translating complex ideas into clear, high-value messaging focused on customer needs.
  • This is a hands-on role with wide scope and inherent ambiguity. Must be able to juggle multiple priorities, ship quickly, make progress with limited direction, and adjust based on feedback.
  • Strong communicator who values sharp, straightforward writing. Prefers done and effective over perfect and polished.
  • BS in life sciences, chemistry, or a related technical field preferred, due to the scientific nature of our platform and the need to communicate clearly in a fast-growing, technically complex market.
  • Familiarity with CRM (Salesforce preferred) and marketing automation tools.

Compensation

Aralez Bio's salary range for this position is $100,000-$150,000 per year, a wider range representing a couple potential levels/titles, determined by looking at candidates' work experience. In addition to salary, your total rewards package will include equity and benefits.

Benefits at Aralez Bio

  • Medical / dental / vision insurance coverage
  • 401k
  • Flexible Spending Account
  • Unlimited time off policy
  • Weekly catered lunch
  • Professional Development opportunities
  • Annual company retreat
