Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled GIS Analyst to join the ENGEO team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive GIS support across a wide range of projects, including site investigations, environmental assessments, remediation efforts, water resources studies, geotechnical analyses, and construction projects. This role involves the creation, management, analysis, and visualization of spatial data to inform critical project decisions and deliver high-quality deliverables to clients. The GIS Analyst will collaborate closely with engineers, geologists, environmental scientists, and project managers to ensure accurate and timely integration of spatial information into project portals. Strong technical proficiency in GIS software, excellent data management skills, and a solid understanding of geotechnical and environmental concepts are valuable for this role.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Designing, creating, and producing high-quality maps and other visual products (e.g., cross-sections, 3D models) that effectively communicate complex spatial information for reports, presentations, and project deliverables.
  • Collaborate with the GIS team and project managers to create innovative solutions for visualizing data
  • Conduct various spatial analyses to support project objectives. This might include site grading, hydrological modeling, geological feature mapping, and environmental impact assessments
  • Collection, organization, standardization, and maintenance of diverse geospatial datasets. This includes managing data from field surveys, aerial imagery, existing databases, and client-provided information
  • Development and maintenance of geodatabases, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and accessibility for project teams.
  • Provide expert GIS support and technical guidance to engineers, geologists, environmental scientists, and project managers. This involves collaborating closely on project planning, data interpretation, and problem-solving.
  • GIS to CAD interoperability or vice versa while maintaining data integrity
  • Stay up to date with the latest GIS technology and make recommendations on improving processes.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • 2 to 5 years of professional experience in a GIS role
  • Familiar with ESRI software (ArcGIS Enterprise, Portal, AGOL, Field Maps, Desktop, and Pro)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geosciences, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Strong understanding of spatial data concepts, projection systems, data management, and geodatabases
  • Solid understanding of geospatial data formats: shapefiles, geodatabases (personal, file, and enterprise), raster datasets, CAD data, KMZ, etc.
  • Knowledge of coordinate systems, projections, and datum transformations.
  • Experience with data conversion, integration, and quality control.
  • Experience with graphic design principles for creating clear, effective, and visually appealing maps and exhibits.
  • Must be able to legally work within the United States.

Other Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience within an environmental, geotechnical, or engineering consulting firm
  • Professional GIS certification (e.g., GISP)
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD for CAD-GIS integration and data exchange.
  • Python experience
  • Experience with SQL-based database systems
