Mefford Construction is searching for a highly experienced and strategic Director of Construction to lead our field operations across multiple commercial construction projects. This executive-level position-also referred to as General Superintendent-is pivotal in shaping the performance, safety, and productivity of our job sites. You will serve as the main connection between field teams and executive leadership, ensuring that every project is delivered on time, on budget, and with uncompromising quality and safety. Key Responsibilities

• Leadership & Oversight
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate all superintendents and field staff across active projects
• Act as the main field liaison between project management, executives, and clients
• Enforce company-wide safety, quality, and productivity standards
• Construction Execution
• Direct all phases of construction from mobilization through project closeout
• Monitor jobsite progress and initiate recovery plans for delays
• Ensure milestone adherence and schedule alignment across projects
• Workforce Planning & Training
• Assign field staff based on scope, skillset, and project requirements
• Develop superintendent onboarding and leadership training programs
• Partner with recruiting to identify and attract top-tier field talent
• Quality & Safety
• Uphold OSHA and site-specific safety compliance through regular audits
• Drive quality assurance through inspections and proactive issue resolution
• Eliminate recurring quality deficiencies by improving processes and training
• Collaboration & Communication
• Facilitate weekly field operations meetings with PMs and superintendents
• Communicate clearly with clients, architects, and subcontractors to resolve field challenges
• Provide executive leadership with real-time field performance updates
• Continuous Improvement
• Track and analyze field KPIs: labor efficiency, safety incidents, punch list durations, and more
• Recommend operational enhancements to improve jobsite performance
• Conduct post-project field reviews to capture lessons learned and best practices
  

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in commercial construction with 5+ years in senior field leadership
• Demonstrated success managing multiple large-scale construction sites
• In-depth knowledge of building systems, safety compliance, and project phasing
• Proficiency in Red Team, Sage, MS Project, or similar construction software
• Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
• Preferred:
• OSHA 30 Certification or higher
• Strong scheduling skills and experience in public, design-build, and negotiated work
• B.S. in Construction Management or equivalent field experience

Schedule

• Full-Time | Monday to Friday
