Pay Range: $18.14 - $24.49 / hour

At UW Health in northern Illinois, you will have :
Under the director of Supervisor and/or the Surgical Materials Coordinator obtains and coordinates the distribution of supplies for assigned departments. Maintains appropriate par levels of all inventory items as well as procuring non-inventory items and miscellaneous supplies. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental and divisional nursing philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System initiatives.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
On the job training provided.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Bi-Annual CPR certification required (renew every 2 years).
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES :
Successful completion of annual job specific competencies and skill verification tools required. Knowledge of aseptic technique, standard precautions. Basic familiarity with medical terminology helpful. Computer literacy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide everything from preventive health care to highly specialized programs in conjunction with our physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals.
- Provide quality care in a compassionate patient- and family- centered environment.
- Maintain appropriate par levels of all inventory items as well as procure non-inventor items and miscellaneous supplies.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental and divisional nursing philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System initiatives.
- Serves as a resource person for department staff regarding inventory and supplies.
- Monitors supply levels and equipment availability for the anesthesia service. Stocks and de stocks new items in accordance with department guidelines.
- Performs daily visual check of inventory items and communicates status in a timely fashion to Nurse Manager or to Chairman of Anesthesia service.
- Provides supplies and equipment for all out of department procedures. Maintains confidentiality of position acquired information. Attends monthly anesthesia meetings.
- Orders all supplies and performs daily restocking of carts and monitors outdated inventory items in assigned area per established procedures.
- Assists with annual inventory and periodic cycle counts following prescribed department procedures.
- Performs daily terminal sterilization of anesthesia equipment and instrumentation.
