Position Summary:


We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief of Human Resources (CHRO) to lead and evolve the full spectrum of human resources for our organization. The CHRO will oversee all aspects of HR, including labor relations, talent development, payroll, and benefits administration—while ensuring regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions and unionized environments.

This role requires a leader who understands the fast-paced, compliance-driven nature of the contract security industry, and who can drive scalable HR practices that support both the field and corporate teams. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in union negotiations, workforce compliance (e.g., licensing, training, and onboarding in regulated industries), and supporting large distributed hourly workforces.


Key Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead an HR strategy that aligns with the operational and compliance demands of the security industry, including multi-state licensing, guard card regulations, and state-specific employment laws.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, contributing to business strategy through workforce data, risk mitigation insights, and HR-driven process improvements.
  • Drive HR transformation initiatives to modernize systems, enhance field support, and reduce turnover in high-volume guard operations.
  • Oversee timely and accurate payroll processing for a large, hourly, decentralized workforce across union and non-union sites.
  • Manage benefits programs tailored for the needs of both salaried and hourly employees, including union contract stipulations, health & welfare contributions, and ACA tracking.
  • Ensure full compliance with FLSA, state wage laws, and local sick leave regulations.
  • Lead union contract negotiations, grievance resolutions, and collective bargaining strategies across multiple security contracts and client accounts.
  • Provide expert guidance on labor agreements, pay differentials, post orders, and client-specific compliance needs.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with union leadership, while ensuring company interests and client service expectations are upheld.
  • Oversee compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as licensing and background check requirements specific to security personnel.
  • Lead internal audits and investigations, ensuring adherence to all regulatory and contract-specific employment requirements.
  • Represents and leads organization on all HR related legal matters, including EEOC, DOL, and discrimination claims.
  • Champion a field-first, performance-driven culture that recognizes the challenges of security officers and operational support teams.
  • Oversee leadership development, succession planning, and retention strategies across field and corporate functions.
  • Monitor HR KPIs, including turnover, time-to-fill, licensing compliance, and training completion, to ensure workforce stability and accountability.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience; 5+ years in a senior/executive HR role
  • Experience leading HR in a contract services, security, staffing, or field-based industry is highly preferred
  • Deep knowledge of union labor relations, payroll compliance, and employment law across multiple states
  • Proficiency in HRIS, timekeeping, and workforce management systems (e.g., WinTeam, ADP, Workday, other ATS Systems)
  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent certifications strongly preferred
