Job Description

Main Tasks

  • Lead the development and refinement of innovative product design concepts, ensuring alignment with customer needs, technical feasibility, and business goals.
  • Manage the design engineering team, providing direction, coaching, and technical leadership throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Oversee the translation of product requirements into engineering drawings, 3D models, and detailed technical documentation.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between R&D, Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and Testing to ensure successful design outcomes.
  • Drive CAD modeling excellence and ensure precision in digital design assets and simulations.
  • Lead prototype development, feasibility testing, and validation phases to assess product performance, user experience, and manufacturability.
  • Ensure all designs comply with internal standards, industry regulations, and sustainability criteria.
  • Develop and implement structured test plans, resource allocations, and risk assessments for new projects.
  • Manage multiple design projects concurrently, ensuring on-time delivery, technical integrity, and cross-team alignment.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing within the design engineering function.
  • Support and contribute to product innovation strategies, bringing in new methods, tools, and materials to enhance product competitiveness.

Your Profile

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related technical field.

Experience:

  • At least 7 years of experience in product development or design engineering, including 2+ years in a people leadership or project lead role.

Skills:

  • Proven experience with CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX, or equivalent), engineering drawings, and 3D modeling best practices.
  • Strong understanding of product lifecycle management (PLM), design-for-manufacturing (DFM), and design validation processes.
  • Track record in managing complex engineering projects and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience with prototype development, feasibility testing, and structured test planning.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with a structured, analytical mindset.
  • Ability to foster innovation and continuous improvement in engineering practices.
  • Fluent in English; additional language skills are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel regionally or globally based on project needs.
