The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is seeking a Clinical Research Manager (CRM) I to manage the implementation of clinical research protocols. This is the first of three Clinical Research Manager positions. This position is distinguished by troubleshooting standard operating procedures, dealing with moderately complex problems, and working with higher level managers to deliver solutions.
This position will be in support of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) Directorate of Behavioral Health (DBH). This CRM role will support a DoD-funded single-site study of MDMA-assisted therapy for active duty, guard, and reserve service members with posttraumatic stress disorder to be conducted at WRNMMC.

Responsibilities
- Interacts regularly with clinical investigators, clinical site coordinators, regulatory and safety monitoring staff, laboratory personnel, data coordination center personnel, data analysts, biostatisticians, program managers and administrative staff.
- Coordinates the execution of clinical research proposals, coordination of the proposal submission and scientific/ethical review processes, management of protocol development activities, oversight, and guidance of protocol execution activities at clinical sites, and ensuring project completion and final product development (e.g., presentation and/or publication, recommendations for changes in clinical practice, provision of pivotal data for product licensure, etc.).
- Conducts literature reviews and drafts scientific and technical documents under the direction of clinical investigators and other members of the investigative team.
- Coordinates with program managers to prepare grant/funding applications, develop contracts with vendors, write progress reports for sponsors and track various aspects of the program related to research administration (e.g., personnel management, development, and oversight of project budgets, etc.).
- Contributes to the development and modifications of study budgets and is responsible for budget compliance and development/tracking of protocol performance metrics.
- May include budgetary responsibility to include plan/forecast and prepare.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
- Assigned Lead: May recommend the following: employee hiring, disciplinary action, and starting salaries; provide input on employee performance evaluations.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree required in Biology, Epidemiology, Public Health or related field.
- Minimum of 5-8 years experience required.
- Master's Degree required in Biology, Epidemiology, Public Health or related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience required.
- Knowledge of federal and local regulations and policies pertinent to research involving human subjects.
- Knowledge of report submission to IRB and FDA.
- Familiarity with data collections methods and programs such as REDCap.
- Knowledge of biomedical sciences and clinical research.
- Familiarity with clinical research methods.
- Basic knowledge of microbiology and infectious disease epidemiology.
- Knowledge of PCs including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to write clearly and concisely.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish goals and agendas.
- US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a T3/Secret Clearance.
- Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.
- This position will take place primarily in an office setting.
- The annual salary range for this position is $64,200-$80,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
