Job Purpose

The Membership Manager plays a vital role in expanding and strengthening the organization’s community by developing tactical plans to grow membership participation and improve retention. Through leadership and motivation, this role fosters a high-performing team dedicated to volunteer support, membership recruitment, and exceptional customer service. The Director of Membership partners with various departments to align strategies with organizational goals while working with volunteers and marketing team to enhance recruitment efforts. Additionally, this position oversees budget management, project coordination, conflict resolution, and event planning, ensuring a dynamic and engaging experience for members. With a commitment to building meaningful partnerships and driving organizational success, the Director of Membership serves as a crucial leader in fostering a thriving and inclusive membership community.



This position may require work on nights and weekends as needed.

Job Responsibilities

Develop a plan of action and cultivate strategic partnerships (especially schools) to consistently grow membership participation and increase membership retention.

Lead, motivate and retain team members that support volunteer experience, membership recruitment, and customer service.

Work in partnership with other departments to strategically develop plans to support council membership goals as well as contribute to the overall success of the organization.

Create and maintain relationships with service unit leadership and assist them with conflict resolution when necessary.

Collaborate with appropriate volunteer members of Service Unit teams to recruit and retain girl members and adult volunteers.

Collaborate with the marketing team on messages and marketing materials used in recruitment and retention efforts.

Plan, participate in, and implement community events.

Assist with the recruitment and training of adult volunteers.

Serve as project manager for department projects.

Create and manage a membership budget and membership forecast report.

Job Qualifications

All other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor’s degree and/or 6 years equivalent experience in related field such as: communications, nonprofit management, marketing, community development, volunteer engagement and support.

Experience

  • Highly organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Presentation skills a plus.
  • Time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Success in setting expectations and maintaining accountability.
  • Ability to work independently and with a diverse team.
  • Adept at change management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, social media, and ability to learn proprietary software with a preference for candidates with Salesforce experience.

Licenses/Certifications

Personal vehicle, valid driver’s license, and current insurance.
