Description

SUMMARY: Hand Arendall Harrison Sale has a wonderful opportunity for an entry level IT technician in our Birmingham office. Performs all functions according to established policies and procedures, related to receiving calls from attorneys, managers, staff and vendors and directs them to the appropriate individual(s) within the IT Department. Maintains contact with attorneys, staff and clients and observes confidentiality of client and firm matters.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: “Essential functions” are primarily job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation made by the employer.*

  • Receives and responds to all Help Desk calls. Solves the caller’s question or problem – or refers the caller or problem to the correct IT employee for resolution.
  • Returns all Help Desk calls in a timely manner.
  • Documentation of all regularly performed tasks.
  • Responsible for the configuration, installation and regular maintenance of all desktop and laptop computers.
  • Responsible for performing server configuration, support and backups on the firm business servers.
  • Responsible for helping support the firm’s technology infrastructure, including but not limited to: telephones, computers, network, copiers and printers, audio and video equipment, servers and PDA/Cell phone devices.

Working Conditions

Normal office environment with some exposure to noise, dust temperature and the like.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Thorough knowledge of current software applications (i.e., Windows (firm’s current version) on desktop/laptop, FileSite, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Server, all firm specific applications.
  • College level work experience with PC-based legal or professional services firm/organization preferred in order to gain experience in resolving complex computer problems.
  • Ability of multi-task, rapidly analyze issues, establish priorities, anticipate consequences, make decisions and initiate action.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to maintain effective relationships with attorneys and staff in person, by e-mail and telephone to provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.
  • Ability to demonstrate extensive knowledge of information processing with diverse, changing applications.
  • The functions may vary slightly for each office location within the firm.
  • Ability to demonstrate familiarity with LAN/WAN and computer networks. Some hardware experience helpful.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with attorneys and staff, oral and written.
  • Work occasionally requires a high level of mental effort and strain when performing essential duties. Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with time constraints, interruptions and stressed attorneys and staff.
  • Work occasionally requires more than the established office hours per week to perform the essential dues of the position. Must be able to work overtime, nights, weekends and holidays when necessary.
