Summary

The incumbent works in an outdoor environment; frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Requires the ability to operate City vehicle, lift 75 pounds or more and maneuver through unpaved and un-cleared property. Occasional climbing of ladders or stairs required.

Schedule
- Normal shift hours: Monday-Thursday 6:30am-5:00pm
- Two one-week night shifts are required per year
- Occasional weekend shifts required
- Perform detailed walk through inspections of industrial and commercial industrial users to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations.
- Visually inspect facility and perform on site pH testing and industrial sample collection and preparation for analysis based on Federal, State and local rules and regulations.
- Monitor and sample customer city points of entry
- Transport collected samples to laboratory.
- Prepare sample chains-of-custody for all samples to determine permitting requirements
- Perform Certificate of Occupancy inspections and complete industrial waste survey inspections.
- Review industrial site locations for permitting requirements.
- May perform inspections of sand traps and grease traps according to compliance.
- Conduct routine laboratory maintenance, calibration and preparation of equipment, and enter data results into LIMS and LINKO databases.
- Assist with the customer city flow meters
- Assist with pollution prevention activities.
- Four-year college degree
- No experience required
Preferred Qualifications
Education/ Experience:
- Four-year college degree in environmental sciences, chemistry, or related field.
- 1-2 years experience
- Knowledge of Federal, State and Local environmental regulations
- Skill in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
- Skill in utilizing industry specific software applications
- Basic knowledge of industrial wastewater sampling procedures and practices
- Skill in reading pH Meters
- Ability to handle basic laboratory equipment
- Valid Class C Texas driver's license
