Job Description

Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Responsibilities

The Human Resources Specialist II (Benefits) is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the organization’s benefits programs, including employee enrollment, eligibility processes, backup for FMLA, Workers’ Compensation and ongoing program evaluation. This position ensures the efficient operation of benefits-related activities, provides guidance to employees on benefit options, and contributes to the overall success of the benefits team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage new hire benefits enrollment process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in capturing employee elections.
  • Assist with new hire orientation sessions by presenting benefits-related information.
  • Provide clear and thorough communication to new hires about their benefit options.
  • Process weekly eligibility files to ensure employee and dependent benefits are accurate and up to date.
  • Coordinate with carriers and vendors to resolve discrepancies and maintain data integrity.
  • Respond promptly to employee questions and issues related to benefits, providing clear guidance.
  • Counsel employees and their eligible depends on benefit plans and work-related policies.
  • Provide recommendation for improvements or changes to program to enhance employee satisfaction and alignment with organization goals.
  • Collaborate with the benefits department on special projects, open enrollment, compliance initiatives, and other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and at least 2 years’ of professional level experience, or equivalent training and experience.
  • Must have at least 2 years of previous experience in Benefits with a strong understanding of various employee benefit plans.
  • Working knowledge of Family Medical and Leave Act.
  • Working knowledge of Workers’ Compensation.
  • Oracle Fusion HCM Benefit module experience highly desired.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and follow through on all assignments.
  • Ability to solve problems.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • The primary work location will be at Losee Road facility located in North Las Vegas, Nevada.
  • Work schedule will be Monday through Friday (4/10, 5/8, 9/80).
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Ability to obtain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential under the Department of Energy Order 206.2, ‘Identity, Credential, and Access Management,’ and Supplemental Directive NNSA SD 206.2, ‘Implementation of Personal Identity Verification for Uncleared Contractors.’

Annual salary range for this position is: $63,856.00 to $95,784.00.

Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
