The Career Center Director is responsible for the strategic leadership, development, and daily operations of the organization’s career services program. This role involves overseeing all aspects of career counseling, employer relations, job placement services, and professional development programming to empower clients—often underserved populations—with tools to achieve meaningful employment.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Leadership & Management

  • Develop and implement comprehensive career development services aligned with the organization's mission and goals.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Career Center, including staff supervision, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Design and evaluate programs that address workforce development, job readiness, and career advancement.
  • Ensure services are trauma-informed, culturally competent, and client-centered.


Staff Supervision & Development

  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Career Center staff, interns, and volunteers.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment focused on performance, innovation, and equity.
  • Provide ongoing professional development and coaching to staff.


Client Services

  • Ensure delivery of high-quality career counseling, resume/cover letter assistance, interview coaching, and job placement support.
  • Monitor client outcomes and satisfaction to continuously improve services.
  • Create and manage workshops, seminars, and group programs.


Employer & Community Engagement

  • Build and maintain partnerships with employers, educational institutions, and community-based organizations.
  • Develop job pipelines and employer referral networks to support client job placement.
  • Host job fairs, networking events, and employer panels.


Strategic Planning & Evaluation

  • Collaborate with leadership to set strategic direction and goals for career services.
  • Use data to measure impact, identify trends, and guide program enhancements.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for funders, board members, and stakeholders.


Fundraising & Grants

  • Support grant writing, reporting, and compliance related to workforce development funding.
  • Contribute to identifying new funding opportunities and community collaborations.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Human Resources, Education, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in workforce development, career services, or related nonprofit field.
  • 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of employment trends, career development theory, and job search techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.


Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience working with marginalized or vulnerable populations.
  • Proficiency in workforce development tools and case management systems.
  • Bilingual abilities a plus.


Compensation: $91,000 to $129,000 annually

Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
